Sorry if that's not much help.

Children need healthy ways to release energy, especially boys. Forcing them to sit at their desks for hours on end at school, followed by home lives with largely sedentary activities like tv and video games... yeah, it's no wonder they're flopping around and going out of their heads. Children don't need medication; they need dodge ball and soccer.

Attention Deficit Disorder vs. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. ADD was the old term and considered outdated by psychiatrists, ADHD is the new one as per the DSM-5. It got changed because some people with ADD don't show lack of attention span but they do show impulse control. Or they show both.

try meditation
being able to be in silence and still is very important to mental health and personal growth
it's a slippery slope in the other direction, and you sound farrrr down the slope
every day, try and take 5 minutes of silence to reflect upon things and let your mind become more still
take 5 minutes and try to clear your mind of all thoughts, this is a lot harder, but very important, imo, to be able to do, if thoughts come, that's okay, but don't let THEM control YOU, learn to be in control of them yourself and guide your own mind through mental discipline
increase this amount as you increase your threshold for being able to do so

Well... the other folks saying they like having ambient noise is one thing. darth saying it's torture to try to fall asleep without it and that he gets anxious without it is a bit less common. Especially given what I recall of his health troubles he likely uses the word torture while understanding pain well. You know what I mean?
I agree in children it's often over-diagnosed.

Eh, I remember as a kid being diagnosed with ADHD, but as I grew older the problem was pretty much non-existent. Maybe it was just a case of me just being a kid, who knows.

I'm curious is this a normal thing or am I a bit wrong in the head? (well even more so... :D )
Music aside, though, need light, too, sometimes i even sleep with lights open.

I can't imagine sleeping with the TV on. Good way to give yourself really bad nightmares.

OP - Yeah. Trying to sleep in silence is impossible for me, but sometimes I get anxious from silence during the day too (though it is more rare lately, now that I think about it.) And sometimes I like perfect silence. Depends on the day and time, and whatever random mood I'm in.

I like silence.
There can be no music without silence. But for me silence is the music.
I prefer to play games without sound.
I can't meditate without silence. I can't have sound sleep if there is a noise or even a clock is ticking.
