So Epic has not cloud saves?
avatar
pds41: It's Steam, so I suspect if you questioned it, 99% of the Internet would tell you that it's perfectly fine and exactly what you would expect, before then calling Epic a garbage company for doing the exact same thing.

Best practice would be to have a prompt saying "Would you also like to delete all your installed games - Yes/No".
avatar
ReynardFox: I'm quite baffled how 'delete this yes/no' isn't an industry standard option at all. Even if it just left your data on the hdd, thats still a really sloppy way to handle uninstalling.
Particularly when you realise that even the GoG offline installers ask you whether you want to keep save data when you uninstall!

Mister.Wolf: Doesn't Epic have cloud sync for the savegames?
avatar
ReynardFox: It does, but as I never want to let myself become reliant on internet features I disabled it. Yes I can see the irony in that.
Makes sense, you were being consistent. And you'd have no way of knowing that the uninstall behaviour would be so over-reaching (doing so without a prompt is very unintuitive, regardless of what one may think of client A or B). Hope you manage to still have fun with the game, independently of platform, despite the bad experience caused by a third-party.

Well I do have the GOG versions of the Batman trilogy from when they arrived here, so I guess it's time to start from scratch with Arkham City. Probably for the best really, I bet the EGS version's save data wouldn't be compatible with the GOG version anyway and I'm glad to be rid of it.

timppu: Does Steam actually do the same? At least I recall it just removes all your games if you uninstall the client. I don't recall if there was a confirmation about that...

Then again I presume the save games would still be available in the cloud saves, for those games that support cloud saves.
If you uninstall the Steam client it doesn't uninstall any of your games. I've uninstalled Steam before several times to manually reinstall it to work around a given issue I had and it has never uninstalled any of my games when uninstalling the client.
Well, It was weird to me because apparently it is the only launcher that works in that way. If the info I have found from the web is accurate then it is confirmed that If you uninstall Epic Launcher the games are deleted as well, indeed.

Pure unituitive garbage methodology. No warning, no nothing.

nightcraw1er.488: Clients, what are they good for, absolutely nothing.
Say it again.
