If I log in and it shows a (1) next to my account and this is a game update and if the update is not applicable to me as in the latest Stalker Polish update how do I stop it show the (1) next to Account at page top ?

Once you've looked at the game in question, the update will eventually go away by itself. However, since the GOG website is not exactly a well-oiled machine, it may take quite a while (sometimes more than an hour) for this to happen.
