I've never posted on the GOG forums. To date, my only use of GOG has been to collect old Dungeons and Dragons games that haven't been Beamdog'd onto Steam, and games like Undying, etc that you cant find elsewhere. I play on here sometimes but, so far GOG doesn't keep my attention other than as a collector due to the lack of features in the client.

Is there any plan in the future to bring achievements or a more in depth profile, or more community options such as trading or just, well, anything like what Steam has, honestly, to GOG? Or more in depth store options and information for the games?

I'd love it and I am certain so would a lot of other people. I mean GOG is great and I am glad I have a way to get these old games. Without GOG I couldnt have recently fired up Hillsfar, a game I'd not even seen since I was like 10.

But I'd use it more if there were more to it.

So, what are the plans for GOG as a gaming platform? Can we expect more?
Newer games often already support achievements and trading them works as well via codes (although it's not technically implemented).
Aren't the profiles we have today more in-depth than previously? When the new profiles were implemented early last year, I was still a fledgling GOGGER, so I don't really remember what existed before then.

I think one reason a lot of the games here lack achievements is because so many of them were released before achievements were integrated into Galaxy (2016, ish?). Although it would be nice for developers to revisit the games to add achievements, I doubt many would bother doing it. A few older SNK games here do have achievements (Metal Slug comes to mind),.. but I think those were released here in 2017 anyways.
The absolute last thing I want is for GOG to become even more like Steam. This place is already a shadow of its former self, bent and broken to fit the Steam mould.

GOG Galaxy already has Achievements sort of. But the problem is, many/most devs treat GOG customers like second-class citizens and simply don't bother to implement Achievements for GOG Galaxy even when those same identical games on Steam do have Achievements.

This problem is made worse by many GOG customers complaining about the inclusion of Achievements and advocating the idea that just because they don't like them, no one else should have them either, and that it's fine for devs to treat GOG like second-class citizens by excluding them.

As for the other stuff you mentioned: no one knows. GOG hasn't said anything about making further improvements to Galaxy. But they certainly should. Otherwise, the GOG platform will stagnate and eventually go out of business.

Most especially, GOG needs to make GOG become a viable multiplayer platform. I think the best/only way for that to happen will be for GOG to cut a deal with Steam that allows GOG games to piggyback off of Steam's multiplayer servers and ensures 100% of GOG multiplayer games that are also on Steam have Crossplay with Steam.

I totally agree with you.
Just wondering if there are plans to bring Achievements to older games, especially stuff like the old Dungeons and Dragons collections and games.

I really love those games and it would be such a great motivation and goal to play them all again.

The achievement system in general , I hope is going to be more fleshed out, as well as profiles so we can express ourselves.

In general, GOG is amazing, and I will never stop using it unless it stagnates. But it does need to be more like Steam when it comes to stylistic choices and both gamer profile connection and building, and more easily accessed game hubs and discussion areas. WITH NO DAMN MODERATION OBVIOUSLY. That is one place Steam needs to stfu.

So, just wondering if anyone knows GOG's plans for Galaxy? I tried to read up on it a bit but found not much, and while I use GOG, I would use it a LOT more and buy a lot more if these changes were implemented.

Thanks for any useful replies, [i]troll wannabes can save it - real trolling died 20 years ago. What people call trolls and trolling now is just uncreative loudmouth lowbrows. The only real trolls were artists, subtle, hilarious and have died, retired out of disgust over the state of the internet, or you dont know theyre trolling until youre triggered too much to figure it out.
Thats all.

Have the day you deserve! [i](hopefully, it's a good one. If not, well, you deserve it I guess?)
