To be more specific - access from Android devices will be no longer available since that day:
https://techcrunch.com/2025/02/20/amazon-is-shutting-down-its-app-store-on-android/

I personally didn't dig in too deeply yet about most optimal app to make backup copies of the games/apps, but I'm going to, of course for those apps that are fully functional without connecting to some third-party stuff.

Why I mentioned it:

a)Looong time ago Amazon Apps was giving away for free full games, and fully functional ones, like Sonic 2 or Sonic CD. So if you have any of those and want to "keep" them, then at least install them on your phone before that date.

b)It turns out, that Amazon Apps still sells some full-fledged titles, such as Android version of Battle World: Kronos or Ys: Chronicles, that were removed long time ago from Google Play offer and basically impossible to buy anywhere else (moreover for Battle World: Kronos, you receive full game after purchase, so no stupid stuff like with Google Play version, where you had to download a demo and then buy from the demo full game, when it was possible).

So if by any chance you have there account and have there at least one game valuable to keep, I would highly encourage to at least download it before that date (20 August 2025). based on my experience - I tried with Ys Chronicles, Battle World Kronos and Spaceward Ho!, after downloading they work fine without any interference from Amazon Apps stuff.

Wrong. Most apps try to connect to the Amazon Appstore and spit an error message if they can't. The only way to keep them working after the deadline is, sadly, to hack their DRM out. There are a few methods, I won't link or tell you what they are but suffice to say they're stupidly easy to use. Either they modify the APK directly or they require root to modify the installed content.

I love that this is kind of like how people here warn about how a potential Steam shutdown would look like. "Too big to fail" Amazon here is closing down their appstore after what seemed like forever since its inception.

Those three I've described are launching and working for me 100% correct, even with uninstalled completely Amazon Apps store application.

I even made an "extra test" with having completely removed Amazon Apps AND disabling internet connection. And those three are still working.

Can't say about those that I don't own, but for those three, I am positive that they will work fine.

Like look at the attachment here. This is with the internet left open but with Amazon prevented from starting up by another application. That's Final Fantasy V before it was replaced with the version sold currently, you get a message with the only button being "Quit" and no way to go past it and continue using the app.

This is in my experience the majority of the store, and you can't get past that window without Amazon working ESPECIALLY after their deadline in case they really turn off the ability to even get past this screen.

There's also the thing about the apps that often get updated, you'll lose out on these future updates from the few devs that already provided them, like Minecraft for example.

.....nnnnnooooo.

In fact the appstore will continue to work only if you're using their Kindles. Everybody else: hosed.
