samuraigaiden: I got the original 350 because it's the cheapest. It's great. I'm curious how much of an upgrade the M really is, but right now I'm having fun with the one I got. No, I paid for a Chinese handheld console. It's not just a board.

Darvond: Hence the, "Glorified" part.
It is literally a Raspberry Pi with a TFT screen and controller built into a prefab plastic shell.

Just to clarify, all the Anbernic consoles come with IPS panels. Also if you get the metal models, they have metal shells.

I find the full metal aluminum shells, an extremely attractive option, which kills me since the latest 351v model is plastic only. :((

MadalinStroe: You've literally repeated something I've clarified just one post above. I wasn't referring to "most electronics", I was talking about the retro consoles market in particular. In this case, it is surprising.
Well your original post was written as if it was a generalisation about things manufactured in China. If this had already been pointed out to you by someone else, maybe the smart thing would have been to clarify the original post. ;)

It was also written in a gaming forum, in a thread about gaming consoles. This isn't social media, where snowflakes can't be bothered with context. As Walter said: "Life does not stop and start at your convenience..." I'm not going to edit my posts because you can't be bothered to at least read the very last post of the thread.

Then expect people to keep assuming you meant what you wrote instead of what you thought you wrote.

samuraigaiden: I got one. It's great. I'm having a lot of fun playing Adventure Island (NES) and Soul Blazer (SNES). I tried a bunch of the homebrew stuff too. The Tomb Raider port is impressive.
Hey, just wanted to thank you for opening this thread! Got myself a RG350V and I'm having a blast playing all those old titles from my childhood days on a handheld. I don't really keep up with gaming gadgets, wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for this thread!

Thanks from me too, probably would never have read into it if not for your post. Although I went with Madalins suggestion and got the 351v.
I had an rg350. Nice enough for the price. I upgraded to a gpd Win 2 though as a portable device, can do a lot more, but obviously cost a fair bit more. I just did a search and the gpd win 3 is out!

It looks really good (you would expect so at that price). Anyone tried it?

Not out yet. Their order page takes you to their indiegogo, it's expected to release later this year.

Ah, ok, I looked on the UK retailer, must have been a preorder or something. Way too expensive, but it does look cool.

I'm glad you found my post helpful. Just in case you are curious, you might be interested in this youtube channel. It's basically a guy that creates guides for various modifications to the consoles. He has on the available firmwares that improve the user experience, I think ELEC351 is the best one, and mods you can do to your console, such as replacing the buttons, or battery, screen. He also has videos about how to set up native ports for the console, such as how to get Shovel Knight, Undertale, Doom, Half Life, working on the console.

Also as a personal advice, you should consider backing up/upgrading the SD card that contains the OS.
pff an ads topic
wonder if this will be removed or not

How would this be different from somebody being happy with their purchase of a PS4Pro and posting about it, because they are having a great time playing Bloodborne? It would be absurd to remove this topic.

Sound advice, thanks :)

Just found out about these devices because of this thread. I will check what exactly an Anbernic is and how much they cost and if I end up spending money on one it will be entirely your fault, you hear me?
