Aemenyn: Wait, there isn't a link to the weekly sale on the new frontpage?
Why would they think that is a good idea?

I mean, sure, there's the 'on sale' section, but that doesn't show everything at once or separates between owned and not owned.
^This.

Before the re-design is was possible to get to the weekly sale or the daily deal with just one click. Now for the weekly sale you have to scroll down to the bottom, open the news and click on the link inside. It's annoying and over-complicated. And you can't find the daily deals at all (do they even still exist?).
Yeah, not a fan of this redesign.

It's also impossible to figure out what the current daily deal is.

Unless you want to compare all games on sale every day.

cachirulo: Galaxy user here (latest Windows). I cannot see at all neither the 'on sale' section nor the 'news' one

Please, you have to be able to see the news section at all in your browser first.

You do know that they removed the on sale section? Though its been replaced by tiles above the tag section. Its not very good I agree. The previous sales options on the frontpage were a lot better.

The news sections is at the bottom of the page now in tiles.

At last it is as easy to find stuff from storefront as it is from forums.

Also community wishlist seems to be broken; last updates are from August and votes don't seem to register.
So after a week or so - mixed bag for me.

I LIKE the new review pages (aside from the fact that the visuals are "overlarge" for me) and I LIKE the embedded videos in the little game tiles - sort of a neat feature.

I HATE the overall "largeness" of the new stuff - takes up way too much space, and there's this weird paradox of having stuff be too big but also a ton of wasted space. Navigation of the front page is a lot more cumbersome.

Also, there's way too much stuff I don't care about being thrown at me (tiles of random games, big areas of lists I don't really care about) and the stuff I USED TO like to pay attention to is now more hidden, less prominent and dominated by visuals.

I like lots of info in a tight space in a concise manner. I find this sort of goes for a smart device / tile based presentation - splashy and visual. Might be easy to flick around on your smartphone and look at pictures, but I prefer to see information in a different manner.
the new design is bad !!! i hope they change it back to the old design. the old design was much better, i liked the news section and the charts and sale list were easy to open

So the more I look at the frontpage, its getting more and more obvious to me that there is tons of space wasted that could be filed with useful information like before. Instead of that there are these huge tiles. Couldn't gog just make smaller tiles with the zoom option when you hover over them? That would allow more stuff to be shown.

Also why is the most important thing on gog.com removed - The statement what gog is all about: drm-free, money payback option if the price is not fair, etc. That is really missing and really what made gog stand out.

Now on sale tiles should really just be converted back to the on sale tab and the banner for sales should come back. Its kinda hard to find what is on sale now.

The news section needs to be lifted up above the upcoming and other tabs. Its just in a totally wrong position.

I could stomach the redesign, but loading the video from youtube at mouse hover is too much.

Please gog, what is wrong with images? Or at least have some gifs if you need to satisfy that "everything must be moving" urge.
The only thing is disliked is the news on the very botton. It should be on the middle.

fizzywiz: It feels like they are trying to emulate window 8; who would want to do that?
In Windows 8.1 you don't ever see the metro tiles, you boot directly to the desktop. In addition, if you install the Classic Shell Startmenu (or something similar) you never ever see these tiles.

fizzywiz: Why the GIANT banners at the top?
You forgot the delicious combination of a carousel (one of the things I REALLY hate) and mouseover starting videos :)

avatar
fizzywiz: Why do I have to scroll down to the bottom just to see the news?
The news section currently only consists of the strip "News" but no content ;)

I also hate it. Really bad redesign from a useful and quick page to a huge mess. No idea who wanted to try something new.

Function first, design second and best of all combine both...

*The statement what GOG was all about

Name change from GOG to Steam 0.2 soon.

(But yeah, you are completely right.)
