I like then new filter options in the review section. Other than that, it's way to much white space (or grey space in this case) und way to much scrolling. It's following the global trend in web design of decreasing usabillity, which is sad. The worst part is the giant screen-filling picture at the top of the product page. Sometimes it has a play button and displays a video but without sound and the price tag is covering a quarter of it. Come on, that's just plain silly...

Not on Linux, for one? And wouldn't want text only, for another? But speaking of text, see attached comparison of font rendering. Same fonts and size, I'd say IE makes it look clearly best and most easily readable.
But you would think that a commercial site, with every interest of making it easy for anyone to make a purchase, would make sure it works well in as many currently still supported browsers as possible (which in case of IE, according to MS, will be "for the life of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10" - so Jan 2023 from 8.1 plus however long they'd consider it for that mess that is 10). And regardless of market share (which is still about 1.5x that of the "modern" Edge btw), it is still the default on what is still the most commonly used OS.

I suggest checking your cleartype settings, and checking if the other programs have anti-aliasing features enabled. Also, Lynx is multiplat.

As for the Linux comment, what I meant in far more clear terms is that Debian prides itself on stability and never changing packages out from upstream, much to the ire of some notable developers. A Debian package can sit unchanged for years from upstream, only getting security bugs patched if they don't feel like taking the newest package. (I've observed this in distros like MInt.)

Some of whom might be important.

Statistically speaking, no matter how you slice it, Internet Explorer is on the decline to well within a comfortable range of statistical insignificance.


Sidenote: Here's a comparison of web technologies. Note how much IE is missing.

After some more time with the new storefront, I am indifferent and no longer anti-changes. It looks better in Galaxy than in Firefox, for certain, though.

This is NOT good, and this is not GOG..

GOG is supposed to be and STAY a simple site that sells software..

No long load times, no bells no whistles...

or at least make the bells and whistles optional..

I liked the fact that when I click a picture it took less than 0.1 sec for me to get an enlargement.

Now it's 1-10-never seconds.

A simple description of the game shouldn't take 10 seconds..
It should take 1 second tops..
And that was what was, but not what is..

Really ???

If you guys oughta know by now, some people don't look for change...
Like me, faster is better, and that's just about the only better we like..

I don't dislike it, but it is a little more difficult to navigate. It's nearly impossible to navigate on my mobile device and the pictures/videos section doesn't work properly even on my PC. I couldn't just add something to my cart on mobile. I was buying Stellaris and all DLC (as I promised I would the day they released it) and I had to go to each of the DLC page in order to add it to my cart. I also couldn't find the DLC from the game's main page. It ended up being a difficult and tedious process.

The pictures/videos not working is definitely an error with the site. I can't just use the arrows to go to next when it's pictures or videos from another section. I have to X out of the group I'm in, choose the next group from the little line below them, and click on a picture to maximize it again. The other issues I had may be user error until I get used to the new site, but it still felt much less convenient on my phone.

I actually like the way it looks, but I do find it less functional, especially on mobile.

I still really like the look. I think it looks pretty good in Firefox but that's just me. I don't really like how you have to switch pages to see other versions. It makes comparing annoying. Steam does this better where they have it all on one page. It would be alright if in the future they changed it to dynamically replace the current page's content with the new one. That's actually what I assumed would happen when I clicked the table under the "Goodies:" section, but no, it does the same as the button underneath the price tag.

But seriously, when did they start pruning reviews they didn't want?

I just noticed that the new GOG deleted the paragraph separations out of user reviews. So now they all appear as giant walls-of-text, which makes them borderline-unreadable. And it's also not respecting how the original authors intended for those reviews to be read at the time when they wrote/published them.

personalyl the only thing i really need from GOG are old games that cannot be bought anywhere else legally, period.

I dont need galaxy client, i dont need all of those "me too" steam copy things

I dislike the new layout, I find it harder to navigate, the old one was much more 'at a glance'. The huge banner/video up the top is just in the way.

Removing the paragraph separations of user reviews, if intended, is a terrible decision, I can't read them properly anymore. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was incidental to the layout update, but it still should be fixed asap.

I'm not keen, sorry GOG. This seems like change for change's sake. Nothing on the store page displays properly now (I can't even see the system requirements for games in the store), and the things that do work seem to take a lot longer.

The site was absolutely fine before.

Breja: I wasn't even done disliking what is now "old GOG" apparently. I liked the "really old GOG" layout best and haven't been really happy with the site since. But this really does suck balls. What's the point of those huge ass banners? Now I have to scroll and scroll to get to everything that was immediately clearly visable before.

fronzelneekburm: I just dug up an old screenshot of someone complaining about the first game page design overhaul and it seems like such petty nitpicking in light of the atrocity that gog bestowed on us yesterday.
Can you post the original thread?

Also, read those nitpicks carefully... it looks like GoG implemented many of those nitpicks. (Reviews now have dates, the description section is now fully expanded all the time, big list of goodies, expanded system requirements, "buy as gift" replaces hard to see "OWNED" )
