So I'm able to get into Desura sometimes but it takes a good half hour for my library to load

I went and downloaded all the DRM versions of my games to backup

Now, even though the zips showed they had data in them (when attempting to open) the zip files were empty

Anyone else get this issue?

All I saw was a login failure. with "missing root node." I would love to get in and download everything.

That's today

I think Desura pops up properly every now and again - but I'm thinking the site has been hacked because even when you do get in you'll find that you're downloading empty zip folders

I don't have a Desura account, but what you describe sounds to me like that either

1. The zip files are corrupted (ie. you didn't download them completely).

2. You are using an old version of an archive program (WinZip, 7-zip, WinRAR, whatever) that doesn't support the format those zip files are using.

So all I can suggest is to make sure you have a recent version of a popular archival program (e.g. 7-zip), and then use its Test functionality to test those zip files (right-click on the zip file and select 7-Zip => Test archive).

Thanks for the advice but I'm using the most recent 7-zip

Someone else on GOG pointed out that Deusra is still up (sorta) so I went looking for it but it takes a long time to load.
I'm not sure if I'm logging into a hack Desura or not

What does it say when you test the zip files?

When I went to extract them I got a message that they were empty
But checking the file size, they were all the proper file size
In big shortcut - a couple of weeks ago (don't remember when exactly) Desura site allowed to download games after logging into it, only from their website.

The problem is, that there wasn't any official message, it's still not officially re-launched, OnePlay didn't say (as far as I know) anything about it.

They're probably still testing it (hopefully :P), but I've noticed that in some periods I wasn't able to download literally anything, and sometimes I could download a couple of files during the day, after which I've received only "empty links" to download, and one day I could download almost anything I wanted. And generally speaking, during this whole period Desura's site was working very slow.

So it's a lottery at this point - I would recommend to try regulary (every 1-2 days) download your games, or wait until official re-launch.

It would still be interesting to know what the 7-zip test says about the integrity. Does it think it is all ok, or does it complain about it?

To add to that, if these files are larger than 4 gigs, make sure you're using an actual client instead of window's built in unzipper. It can't handle anything over 4 gigs last time I checked.

Example of the issue with winzip:

http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/99/

One of the files I torrent is a 32 gig zip file and that's like 99% of the complaints with it. People swear it's corrupt and constantly down vote it but it works fine if you use an actual zip client.
Issue had to do with MS forcing a driver from 2006 on my discontinued flash drive

The 2006 MS driver doesn't recognize USB drives larger than 32gb so even though the drive is in good order and can hold 64gb anything beyond the limit imposed by the old driver will look like it has been copied over but aside from the name of the folders/files the data is empty.

There is no way to install the flash drive's native obsolete or unsigned driver as MS won't allow you to see even with total visibility set for all files, critical system files and folders
