I'm not comparing the quality of the games, nor the level of success. I'm just giving a reason why Nuclear Throne might be here despite the lack of wishlist votes.
Also, prominent youtubers like Jim Sterling praised Nuclear Throne. And the game's name was also mentioned several times in the Digital Homicide feud, as JS destroyed one of their games as a poor copy of Nuclear Throne. So everything adds up to the success of the game.

1,000 emails? That's excessive for getting a response of about 15,000 users. That would be just 1 or 2 for me. Did they even know those people or was it more like "please have a look and review our game gamespot, IGN, pewdiepie, etc. etc. etc."? Cause that's not proper PR.

Pretty sure they did something disastrously wrong in the process that isn't being mentioned because everyone is unaware that it was a problem.

But Arcen has a feel so simple, yet fantastic; tremendously unique games (even Tidalis, although I just couldn't figure that shit up ;P) don't deserve a death like this. I hope for the best, especially the dude who has been a dad recently.

i seem to already have all their other games on GOG, except the second DLC (Lost Technologies) for The Last Federation. I feel I have 99% done my part. :)

What the heck, I might just as well buy the missing DLC. Is it known if they were still going to release new DLC for The Last Federation, besides the two already here?


There, done. Lost Technologies bought, so now I have all their games from GOG. Kinda happy I caught this, if the games might have disappeared (also from GOG) and I wouldn't have had a way to buy the missing DLC anymore.

Also nice that I was indeed able to buy the DLC(s) separately since I already had the base game, and I didn't have to re-buy the whole Collection.

As much as I know there is nothing planned at the moment. They will go forward with Stars Beyond Reach development to get it ready for Q2 if possible. If not Starward Rogue will be the last Arcen game.

Maybe I misread the post, but he said he's not going to work on SBR, and will instead focus on something new. Also, I thought he was pretty explicit about Arcen not closing down, even if it's just him and one other guy?

Yes, Keith Lamoth the other main developer at Arcen will continue alone on SBR with Blue (their artist) as long as they can but if the financial downward spiral continues as it does now they wil first layoff Blue (in 1-3 months) and after that they won't have another choice even if Chris didn't say that out loud. Chris is now going to work only on Starward Rogue to possibly get co-op in to the game and other features that were requested on Steam.

Terrible news. I was hoping to see Starward Rouge on GOG in the near future (and perhaps some of their older games). Sending an early/glitchy build was indeed a bad call on their part.

Bionic Dues is a good game, sad to hear it hasn't made a profit. The only thing I don't like about it is that the build on GOG is out of date and the only way to update it is through Arcen's server directly - I get they want to give the update to their loyal customers directly but it seems a little like squandered resources.

I guess a Bionic Dues 2 game is now a pipe dream. -ARSE!!!

Thanks for the thread, Matruchus. I think they're a studio worth helping. Though if they survive this they should probably rethink how things are being done.

Alas, I have everything from Arcen on GOG and just picked up everything else on Humble in the current sale. These were all purchases I would have made without notice of impending doom. So, to help out further after said notice, I will grab Starward Rogue as soon as they get the DRM-free build on Humble.

I personally felt very disappointed by bionic dues when I bought it here , that's why I never picked any other of their games. However, I don't remember ever patching it so maybe this explains that.
