I like Fallout 3's view on Washington in ruins after nuclear war and the stranded ship turned into a city of it's own Rivet City.

Oh yes definitely. Three immediately come to mind

Blade Runner - pretty much every single location (though they did basically copy the film's style, but still, it's extremely well done)

Total War Warhammer 2, what those artists have done is really outrageous!

vampire pirate capitals, the magnificent elven pires looming on the back ground of a battefield, i mean, all the late total war games deserve some or more praise, such as Tree Kingdoms or Troy but really .. the twisted screaming nightmarish portrait of a dark elf monster ship looming over the background, the picture divided and merged in a way that can't be real is such an accomplishment
