Acriz: A few weeks a go I downloaded Etherlords and installed. Ran just fine, Etherlords II is better.
A few days ago I downloaded Submarine Titans and Throne of Darkness. Both games opened Galaxy after first time launching and inserted themselves into the Galaxy list of games. Etherlords did not do that.
After looking at the installers, I saw that all the newer ones had a number code in brackets in their names.
Did they stealth combine the Galaxy client with the offline installers again? It's kinda annoying.
Yes, there are exactly 2 different installers (see attached): the upper one is combined with Galaxy, the lower one is classic DRM-free installer. Make sure to ALWAYS try classic installer first. Also note that classic installers receive patches later than Galaxy ones (about 1-2 days).
No "stealthy" Galaxy combine practice was used in this case. There was one case a few years ago, which was solved pretty fast.

If you have Galaxy installed then the custom launch icon on the desktop will often default to use Galaxy. I think it depends on how new the installer is and whether it has the appropriate .dll files in it. Nothing ever forces you to use Galaxy though, you can launch from the .exe. It just assumes if you have Galaxy installed that you want to use it, which I don't think is a bad assumption to make.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Case in point: Divinity: Original Sin 1. A couple of years ago, they released on update patch for that game which included a bug that removes essential, highly necessary tooltip information from the skills in the game.

This makes the game the game unplayable like this. And non-Galaxy users have nothing they can possibly due to fix it, since GOG doesn't offer earlier & unbugged versions of the game for download. Hence, the broken & bugged version is the non-Galaxy user's only choice.

teceem: The bug is solved now right?
It doesn't look like it:-

^ Stuff like this is the reason why I backup everything to local discs and no longer see GOG's cloud based offline installers as a "backup" anymore when GOG refuse to provide the non-buggy versions of offline installers despite even reliable developers here repeatedly nagging them for over 6 months...

The OP mentioned offline installer (you've quoted him saying that!); the blue button doesn't download an offline installer.

My bad, yes. I was too hasty. Unfortunately if offline installers find out about Galaxy application on your PC they usually (not sure if all games are like that already) trying to link to Galaxy right away.
I think I've got it now.
It just installed Throne of Darkness twice. The first time, I pressed 'Exit' after the installation was done and launched the game with the main .exe and with the shortcut. Both just started the game.
then I installed the game again and pressed 'Launch' at the end. That immediately opened Galaxy and integrated the game into my list there.
So it is indeed the 'Launch'-button at the end of an installation that prompts a Galaxy reaction.
Almost all installers now come with components of galaxy:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_required_in_certain_games

If you have it running it will pick this up. However, if you already have galaxy installed, why would this matter to you?
Because Galaxy pops up when it shouldn't. I mean the button says 'Lauch' and not 'Launch Galaxy and then do whatever'.
