Mafwek: Yeah, it's not like 20th century had totalitarian states in Europe; Jim Crow laws in US; imperialistic wars over colonies and oh wait a minute...
JakobFel: You mean the things that have long since been stricken down? Furthermore, this sort of thing threatens all of humankind, not just individual countries, cultures or races. That's not to say that those weren't important issues that didn't need to be taken care of, because they certainly DID need to be taken down, but they only affected certain people while privacy issues and tyranny like we're seeing right now all thanks to the pandemic being used as an excuse, it's the greatest threat to the liberty of mankind that we've ever seen. Why? Because unlike previous attempts to reduce global freedom, everyone seems to just be accepting this with open arms because "it's for the greater good" because "people are dying" and "criminals are thriving", nevermind the 99.x% survival rate and the fact that criminals will always find a way to do what they do.
I would think that GOGers would realize that limiting the liberties of law-abiding citizens because there are criminals out there is not the right thing to do, considering that's exactly what Iwinski and CD Projekt sought to fight when they started GOG...
You presume much if you think I believe Australian government is doing a right thing or that I like this, especially since you actually said some things with which I personally agree with.
My point is that somebody speaking about threats to personal freedom should begin studying history, because in approximately 10,000 years of "civilization" majority of individuals didn't exactly had any to begin with, and that something which happened less than century ago can't exactly be called a long time ago.
