Ah, BF1942, the only shooter that I'm good at. Played on a local server and a few other Asian servers for 2-3 years straight. Good memories.

Downloaded Desert Combat, liked it but I've no interest in modern warfare only WW2. So I mostly just played vanilla. Forgotten Hope is good as well.
Forgotten Hope. Forgot about that. Tough mod, really changed how you played the game. Also some interesting maps in that one.

monkeydelarge: I'm probably just too skilled for bots.

F4LL0UT: Or your CPU is too weak, lulz. Seriously, though, IIRC the game provides an option somewhere to allocate CPU time to the AI or something, don't know if you've tweaked that value. It has a huge impact on how quickly bots react to your presence (or at least it did back in the day, I don't know how bot behaviour and the impact of that option may have changed as CPUs have gotten much more powerful). I remember how back in the day the bots would be "smarter" on stronger computers and get notably dumber as you increased their number to the maximum.
The BOTs are silly at times. They stand there and shoot at you. So much so I can fire a bazooka and hit them from a distance away. Throw a nade at their feets, and they still stand there and shoot at you.
The bazooka's in BF1942 don't have splash dmg, so you actually had to hit them directly. Thing is you can kill many things with 1 bazooka shot even though there's no splash, so people (including me) use the darn things to snipe instead of a sniper rifle. You can use them shoot down planes, passing jeeps, people whether they're moving, strafing, or stationary, and of course tanks.

The bots are of no match against human players. They can't fly for shit for one reason. Our local server fielded a number of extremely skilled pilots who can dive bomb u regardless of where you are or whatever armoured vehicle you're driving, save for you being in a shelter. And if you're thinking of getting the fighter plane to dogfight them, forget it, they win in dogfights against you in a bomber. And one of them I know uses a keyboard to fly. I do too, but I'm much better on ground, I only fly when the good pilots are not around so to save the planes for them. :)
Oh man just the thought of Battlefield 1942 with GOG's Galaxy client for multiplayer would be incredible... :)
Ah, dang it EA! I loved this game, and just 2 years ago I could find at least 100 serious players on at all hours.

Yeah it truly would be amazing. GOG needs to get their hands on this game.

True, but it's still fun to participate in huge battles with them and at least they make decent cannon fodder on foot.
Hi, When i was playing with bots and I decided to test some cheats so I used:
aiCheats.code Tobias.Karlsson - Invincibility
aiCheats.code TheAllSeeingEyeOfTheAIProgammer -allows the user or 'hacker' to see stats of bots

When the axis' ticket reached a low amount (33 or 24) the allies points were instantly deducted to 0

Does anybody know whats going on is it an anti-cheat system ?

By the way the map was 'Battle of Britain'
I like bots because I'm not skilled enough to survive a multi-player game. Plus I'm too shy to play online, I wouldn't know how to behave. I find it sad that beyond Battlefield 2 there were no more single-player maps with mods. Once you've finished the Battlefield 3 campaign, there's no fun in returning to the game, whereas in Bf 1942, Vietnam and BF 2 I played the maps again and again. Also really sad there's no Battlefield game with modern graphics playing in WW 2.

On most maps - though I'm not sure it would apply to Battle of Britain - if one side captures all of the spawn points and kills the last surviving enemy player / bot, the points will zoom down to 0 in very short order. Maybe that's what happened, though, again, not sure if that's possible on that particular map.

Er, wait, yeah, it is possible, but from a different game mechanic. In that one, instead of spawn points the Brits have to defend the radar sites and the 2 factories. Once all of those sites are destroyed, the same thing happens: quick countdown to 0 and the Axis team wins.

You simply play. You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to. Just be a good team player, don't camp to get the planes all the time, and have fun. I generally went lone wolf, being sneaky to get into the rear of the enemy areas and make problems there as best I could - not by camping / sniping, but by attempting to capture the unguarded points away from the action.

My team's (the allies) ticket was at 101 and we didn't even lose one radar point yet and axis' team was at 22 or sometimes 33 and our points just instantly deduct to 0
is it because i'am using:
aiCheats.code Tobias.Karlsson - Invincibility
aiCheats.code TheAllSeeingEyeOfTheAIProgammer -allows the user or 'hacker' to see stats of bots

I know I know i'am cheating but it's fun to cheat sometimes in my opinion
With bots of cause not with Players that's just unfair then

Then I don't know. Unless there's a time limit on that map, or in the server settings somewhere...
Since I've not seen it posted anywhere heres how to connect to the new master server and play online again.

That's why I like the Team Fortress line of games, it adapts quite well to different skill levels, at least the capture-the-flag maps.

A beginner dying a lot? Then stay inside your home base defending it, even close to the ammo room if you need. There you'll have lots of friendlies looking at your back too so you are less likely having to fight anyone alone.

Starting to feel more brave? How about take a peek outside the base once in a while?

Feeling brave? Why not try to actually assault the enemy base, even go after their flag/intel?

Moreover, dying in the Team Fortress games isn't that big a deal anyway so you don't need to fret about it that much. At worst you'll need to wait some 5-15 seconds to respawn in your homebase. None of that Counterstrike "die and you're out of the game for the rest of the round"-bullshit.

This would be is a very big opportunity for GoG to increase it's popularly with the Galaxy, like a couple years ago I think BF 1942 demo had has much players has the full game.

I remember I bought the full game but just the fact I had to insert the CD to play multiplayer was a pain in the ass and I end up keeping playing the demo.

Still I had more fun on the wake island map that in most games I must have played 1000h+ a bi part of my teen years was spent playing the demo.

Also BF 2 is a pain in the ass to mod and play cuz of the gamespy shutdown such a shame, both of this things is a case study why DRM is bad.
