EA gave a preview of Battlefield V on the E3 conference. The setting is the Second World War, like in the first Battlefield game Bf1942. Focus is off course on the multiplayer, with lots of game modes, with a Battle Royale mode coming as well (but not available straight away), but more interesting probably the Grand Operations mode in which several phases of a battle will take place on multiple days.

Tweakers.net was there and participated in a preview battle of a Grand Operations taking place in Norway, with an allied parachutists dropping in to try to displace the Germans:

written preview: https://tweakers.net/reviews/6293/battlefield-v-lijkt-de-oorlog-nu-al-te-hebben-gewonnen.html

Good news is, all forthcoming content will be free: no DLC's, no lootboxes, no Season Pass. EA says they want anyone playing the game being able to participate on all maps and not have some fights of your friends inaccessible because they have other DLC's than you have.

Another interesting feature mentioned is that stationary weapons can be towed by vehicles and repositioned to get an advantage.

For people who dislike multiplayer, like me, Battlefield V will have several War Stories like Battlefield 1 had, with each story focusing on a different character in a different role in a different theatre of the war. The one given a preview of showed a Norwegian girl joining the resistance, but Tweakers wasn't allowed to play it yet, so the gameplay preview is just from the multiplayer.

For anyone not able to understand Dutch, feel free to find and post news in English and other languages.
The trailer looked atrocious. I wish if they wanted to make a bombastic action game they'd just create a new setting.

The gameplay footage on the Tweakers forum showed a much less frantic pace then what I know from Battlefield 1 videos, so I think the gameplay has improved from the far too hectic style of Battlefield 1 (that wasn't true to historical accuracy of World War 1 fighting at all). I don't think the trailer gives a good impression, it being a quick montage of intense explosions and violent shooting. I think they did Battlefield V a disgrace by making that trailer the first news to surface. The reception by the Tweakers users was much more favourable with the E3 preview in the news than after that first trailer. Real gameplay isn't a quick montage of explosions, or so I hope at least.
