New update
Backer beta: March 2020.

That's an automatic no for me. (An exception would only be bade of other aspects of the game would make it highly desirable for me, but that is a very high bar to pass, and this game does not pass it.)

Also, the choice of race, class, and skills is only mentioned during character creation, so as far as I can tell, there appears to be no way of changing race or class after starting the game. (Before anyone mentions it, I *have* seen two (or three, depending on how you count) games that allow that: SaGa 3 and its remake, and the second Dark Sun game (via the cruedly implemented Reincarnation spell).)

Edit: Added closing parenthesis at the end.

I'm always up for a new crpg and this looks cool. I will never back anything on Kickstarter but will buy this when it gets a release in an acceptable state.
From the latest 6th of May update:

Black Geyser Joins Forces With V Publishing

Thank you for being patient with us. We are very excited to announce that we have partnered with indie game publisher V Publishing. We're excited to work with a publishing team that has years of experience promoting and developing games.

As a team we felt we needed a partner to help us deliver a great experience and provide valuable insights into the marketing and final gameplay experience, but did not want a traditional publisher to come and take away the creative control of the game. That is why we have teamed up with V Publishing. It is a true partnership, and we are working to see the original vision of the game come to life as intended. The team at V will be helping us improve many aspects of the final game and they have already started putting multiple plans in place, including regular development updates, more community engagement and activities, and of course announcing plans regarding launching the game.

Michael Brown, the CEO of V Publishing, wanted to pass on a quick message to all our community members: “As huge fans of games like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, the whole team at V are looking forward to helping improve and deliver a great indie CRPG with depth, and a narrative experience that will be memorable. We hope to add huge value to GrapeOcean’s team and start getting the game in the hands of you all later this year. We are excited to also become members of the community and having fun with you all in the coming months.”
Nice for them. Get extra funding. But. I thought the premise for Kickstarter's were to cut out the middle man publishers ?

I guess that was the plan before the pandemic hit.
Another crowdfunded cRPG, Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen which, iirc, was supposed to be finished and released by now was caught off-guard by the apparent increased development expenditure caused by restrictions and regulations too.
And you probably want to avoid doing another crowdfunder to raise additional funds for the backlash you very likely are going to receive so striking a deal with a publisher is pretty much the only viable option left.

Here's hope the Realms Beyond devs are able to work out something similar where creative control is not taken away from them and they can concentrate on finishing development instead of having to work regular jobs to pay the bills.
Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness Gameplay Trailer
As far as I can tell, no word yet whether it's getting an In Dev release on the 26th of August or not.

Looks like an unapolegtic Pillars of Eternity clone.

With Obsidian having dropped isometric RTwP in favour of chasing after TES money with Avowed, someone has to step in.

It's not just the combat style, just the graphics, the UI, the art-style, all of it looks a little too close to PoE.

Not like PoE wasn't exactly subtle about imitating Icewind Dale/Baldur's Gate in various aspects itself.
