I want to play a coop action/rpg with 2 controllers on 1 screen for ps3. What are my options and can demon souls and dark souls do that?

So far only 1 i have diablo 3.
I'm 99% sure that Demon/Dark Souls doesn't allow local coop.

Does it need to be a mix of rpg with action? Can it be jrpg?

Well what do you offer? I am going to sell and get rid of anything i own that doesnt allow me to coop like old days. Singeplayer gets boring in an hour and multiplayer online is really just a bunch of kids that play 40 hours in 3 days. Thats not cool.
Not sure if has rpg elements

Hunted Demon Forge
Lord of the Rings War in the North

Jrpgs (Problem is that 1 player control almost everything and the second player only joins during battles)

Eternal Sonata
Tales of Vesperia
Tales of Symphonia

Similar to Diablo

Sacred 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2
Dungeon Siege 3

I do believe that Borderlands has local coop but it's a mix of fps/rpg.
Not sure how much RPG exactly is to be considered in it, but didn't the new Gauntlet come out for PS3?

I were about to say Forced. That game is not so much an RPG though it does lift plenty of ideas from them...and is only available on PC, Mac, PS4 and X1.

How about Diablo 3? Didn't that get a release which supported multiple-controller coop?

Apart from that I'm at a bit of a loss. Don't have a PS3, but do enjoy coop arcade hack'n'slashish games. Most big budget games have too busy graphics to really be that good coop split-screen, but arcadeish titles would fit really well there.

However, maybe you want to look at PC games as well, hook the PC up to the TV and connect your PS3 controllers and play couch coop that way? There are plenty of good local-only coop games on PC...and I wish I had friends to play them with.

You've obviously never been hit the head with a controller after out playing your friend during a game. :P
