Hi,

I know this is related to Gwent, but since it's also related to GOG I am posting here too.

We are two people in the same home, with two computers. We both want to play Gwent, but we cannot if one of us has his computer turned on with GOG connected. So not only does it prevents us both from playing Gwent, it also means if one wants to play Gwent, the other can't play anything at all that requires GOG.

So basically, we can't play and right now it's the premium weekend, so we really want to play.

Is there any other game that comes with GOG as a requirement? If you're talking about account-based multiplayer games, then yeah, it's supposed to work that way (kind-of-DRM) when those games require Galaxy, because you can't play online with the same account on two different computers (edit: at the same time). And I think that GWENT doesn't give you that option either. You should check that. As for singleplayer games, they do not require GOG or GOG Galaxy at all, just go into the installation folder and launch the game you want to play.

Sorry, I did not think I had to specify, but it's not the same account. Just two people who wants to both play on their own computers, but who share the same living space.

So computer A has account A and computer B has account B, right? Maybe you have to sign out from Gog in your browser before you run Galaxy /Gwent?
There was a time when DRM-free mean something and clients were truly optional..

Can DRM-free work with a multiplayer game like Gwent?

Ok, it's weird then

I haven't played gwent so I don't know what "like gwent" implies.

There are plenty of drm-free multiplayer out there though.

I suppose it has to do with saving everything that has to do with your account and games on a server and the issue of avoiding cheaters/hackers?

I think "like Gwent" implies Gwent is free-to-play (but it could be premium too) with microtransactions (like the old starter pack that was sold here some time ago) and a player progression system. It really wouldn't work without accounts.

Yes, Gwent is an online multiplayer card game, thus requiring accounts. To be able to play, we need to be connected in GOG and then launch Gwent.

Playing games on different computers using the same wifi is not supposed to be a problem, I am just stating the obvious here.

Server wise, GOG gets the client request and doesn't see that it's two different accounts / MAC addresses, it's like it only checks the IP and stops there, shutting us down

Nobody was logged in the browser, but in any case, it is not supposed to be a problem. I can't imagine if steam or battle.net couldn't be open on multiple computers (different accounts) on the same wifi. We are pretty unhappy, especially since I just dumped some money into the game, but I am still hoping there's a solution.

I'd be careful about assuming what's happening on their side, otherwise other details might get overlooked.

Do you have any messages from either computer? Or maybe error messages?

Have you tried the Support link at the top of the webpage? They have a section for Gwent, and a means of creating a support ticket.

(Keep in mind weekends have been notoriously busy for support. I assume it's because so many people have time on the weekends to play games.)

You are right, I was saying "it's like this is what is happening" to illustrate the problem, but the way I said it did look like I was assuming stuff.

I posted on their forums a few days ago though, no answers. I'll try to have more direct approach like a ticket, I kinda forgot about that, thanks.

Oh, that's what I was thinking, too, that you were just suggesting a possibility. :-) Hmm, so it's not just today that you've experienced this.

I think that was a good idea to check the GOG fourms, too. Never know, someone might have had the same experience.
