Lone_Scout: Looks more Cartoon Network / Hanna Barbera than Disney...
Someone needs to watch more Mickey Mouse Shorts. They're great! The game doesn't look exactly like them, but I think it's quite similar.
What an awful artstyle.

It's not an atrocity; the level design is more concerning. However, the art style is just new. Some people seem to expect the game to look exactly like the box art. Which isn't even the case anymore...I looked at it. Goofy looks the coolest out of the pile. It does remind me of the very popular show. But it isn't the same(?) Maybe the concern should be the animation. It's just different. How else would it look? IT'S A DISNEY TITLE.

trusteft: Dark_art_ Grid Autosport is newer by 4 or so years. So if they do share assets, pretty sure it's Grid borrowing them.
I never played Autosport so I can't comment further on that.
Not sure what you mean by broken suspensions. But to make things clear, Split Second is NOT a simulation. It's an arcade racing game. An AWESOME arcade racing game.
Clearly Split second is not a "simulation", not my cup of tea but I know many people who actually prefer more arcade-ish titles over "simulation" ones, and to be fair, I had a ton of fun with Flatout2. I've mentioning broken suspensions because the cars jumped all over the place, perhaps I shouldn't, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, the games are weirdly similar. Had a stroll through PCGW and found nothing that sugests the game was made using the same engine or the same studio. From what I could see the game is called Split/Second preciselly for the rollback/GoBackInTime that was present on Grid games and probably others as well. The similar design and color palette is probably due the PS3 era, I guess I'm just overthinking...

PookaMustard: EDIT: There's only Split/Second in the Dreamlist, is Velocity the same game or an expanded version, or what exactly?
Quoting PCGW entry for Split/second:

"The game was released as Split/Second: Velocity in Europe."

Well, with the title, it would suggest the old Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion titles, which were works of pixel art.
Great to see another Disney title coming soon, wishlisted for now! Hope to see more classic Disney releases in the future!

The trailer is giving Rayman Origins vibes, and I loved Rayman Origins!

It has the same graphic style as these new Mickey cartoons. So no problem with that. You either like it or don't.

No one seemed to make any comparison to the earlier titles...
That being said, the sega genesis boasts considerably colorful pixel art. However, I'm not sure that was the developer's goals since they use newer tools and is not a remaster by the looks of it.

"Be a part of an authentic Mickey cartoon
Experience a brand-new Mickey & Friends adventure with hand-drawn animation, an orchestrated original score and authentic voice talents."
I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the art style!
I have to share the sentiments about this being a truly ugly art style, just like those recent mickey shorts (and anything else 2D they've done in years) it's all awful. The beautiful artwork of classic hand drawn Disney is long gone, replaced by this sloppy, almost Flash-esque Cartoon Network style.
