I've been playing this game non-stop since it was released a week and a half ago. It's a great game; the last game that grabbed me this intensely was FTL. (Though, recognize, the genre isn't for everyone.)

At its core, the game is a placement puzzle game themed as a city builder. The game uses "deck-building" as a progression mechanic. IE, once you've had enough economy points, you can add a new card to your deck [for this level]. There are different characters you can play as as you go, each with a different suite of abilities that encourages focusing on a certain type of deck.

Buildings you place, in addition to boosting and dropping land values (points) in certain areas all have a cost ("expenditure") that, once you exceed a certain limit, makes it harder to clear future lines, a bonus (aforementioned economy contribution) and, most importantly, have their special ability. Houses, for instance, collect points. A scrap yard permanently removes a card from your deck. A warehouse discards a card (that will be drawn again later). A Youth Club draws extra cards so you know better what's coming up to plan your turns. And so on.

The game is BEAUTIFUL. It has a lot of nice touches everywhere. It's quite polished. The voice acting for the characters in tutorial and campaign mode is some of the best anywhere. The sound effects are great. The patches he's done have added/tweaked content in just the right ways. It's really a gem of a game I can't praise enough.

I wish he'd have a demo so I could just recommend everyone try it to see if you like it, even if the genre-mashup doesn't sound like your thing.

So did I ;-)
Sad to see there's so little interest in this great game that's receiving awesome post-release support by its developer.

*sigh* I don't know what's wrong with most of the developers these days :(

Maybe this has really been happened: "Hey developers all around the world... Unite! Against the customers! Let's cut that (for us!) useless 'communistic' thing called "demo" *urrrgghh* !!
So that nobody never ever can 'try before buy'... They'll have to buy before try! YEAH! Harharhar *dirtiest laughing ever*

(Note for the morons: ^that's not meant that serious!)

I'd love to see this on GOG. Hopefully it would get through the approval process, as I know the dev of Cook, Serve, Delicious was rejected from GOG due to appearing like a 'casual' game (ironic considering some have called it the Dark Souls of cooking games).
It looks nice, so => voted!:)
looks nice and interesting enough - voted! Let's see if it's gonna show up here some day
Alas, the dev just posted on its Facebook that GOG rejected Concrete Jungle.

I have been in touch with GOG recently, unfortunately they weren't interested. Oh well- indeed you can get a non-steam copy on itch.io as you say

Of course they weren't interested. It's not in development anymore and it's not a turn-based, procedurally generated survival RPG. Who'd care about something like that?

Personally, I'll wait for the sequel, Abstract Jungle.
Can we get a re-evaluation on this call Gog, because I want to buy and play this game sometime.

I quite do. A card city building game sounds weird and awesome.

If you're looking for a DRM-free version, it's available on Fireflower.
