We all know that gaming on PC has a lot of benefits talking about shooter or fast gameplay, but what about those who like to grab a controller and explore the wilds of a rich open-world game or just to beat that nasty Boss of that Indie game at the commodity of their bed? I would like to see in the future an upgraded overlay for those who play via controllers on their computers, taking advantage of the native Windows support for the Xbox controller devices, with a good simple user interface. Sounds nice, hard to achieve, but never impossible.

You're not talking about an overlay, you mean a controller-friendly Galaxy (like Steam Big Picture). Your topic belongs in the Galaxy subforum.
You can do that by adding GOG games to Steam or (DRM free) Launchbox.
