timppu: We don't have KFC restaurants here, so...
A Taco Bell console could succeed in here, though.

Orkhepaj: in finland?:O
You guessed right. So what startled you, that we don't have KFC or that we have Taco Bell? Or both?

I recall reading KFC was near coming here a couple of years ago, but the agreement they were preparing with the Finnish partner somehow fell through.

It seems quite many international grocery and restaurant chains have issues entering the market here. Might be partly because of a relatively small and widespread market (5.5 million people unevenly spread over 338 440 square kilometers), partly because there are already big domestic grocery and restaurant chains that dominate the market (ie. too much competition already), partly because Finnish labor costs are comparatively high in Finnish restaurants (none of that American "you don't get any monthly salary, just the tips from the customers", and generally blue-collar salaries are comparatively high in Finland, as is the income taxation too) etc.

It was a small miracle that e.g. the German grocery store chain, Lidl, was able to carve a market for itself in Finland, between the dominating big S-ryhmä and Kesko (K-ryhmä) grocery store chains.

Grocery Market share %
S-ryhmä 46,2%
K-ryhmä 36,5%
Lidl 9,6%
Tokmanni 3,1%
Minimani 0,5%
M-ketju 0,4%
Others 3,6%
