Hey everyone.

Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick have just released a mini-adventure game - Delores - as an add-on for Thimbleweed Park. You can read about it HERE

The game is free of charge.

They've already given it to steam and epic. But they won't give it here, DRM-free, unless GOG reaches out to them, and asks them for it.

Since Thimbleweed Park is already here, it would be great to have this new game as an add-on.

I've already submitted an enquiry to GOG about this. But I reckon, the more people that request GOG to get this, the more successful we'll be in getting it here, DRM-free.

So please, everyone, drop GOG a line, and ask them to get this extra treat here.

Ron Gilbert & Gary Winnick

Unlike Steam, GOG is an invite only site. We're happy to put it on there when they let us know, but (also unlike Steam) they have to do all the work in setting up the store page, it's not something we can do.
Invite only? Are creators suddenly not able to submit DLCs to Gog? Creators should be able to submit their stuff - it just requires Gog approval. Not sure why a free add-on would be any different.

Maybe that's what he meant? That they have to wait for GOG's approval? (And then probably also for GOG testing it, which seems to be one of the reasons why some games and updates don't get released on GOG at the same time as on other stores,)

Truly bizarre!

Either I'm misreading or they're basically saying "We want gog to beg us for our game", which would make these two a pair of conceited shitheads, to say the very least.
They did release the Ransom Unbeeped DLC here so they should know the drill. I hope it's just a matter of time. I can't think of a reason why GOG wouldn't want it.

Finally, a good new this year!!! Please gog, bring the dlc here!
Huh, if anyone wants to know the probable REAL reason why this isn't on gog, this might be a good place to start:

Ron Gilbert's blog: https://grumpygamer.com/twp_sales
Strange how the game sold so much better on steam than GOG. I could be wrong, but something doesn't add up.
I never imagined steam being a good platform for selling "old-style" games. In fact every person I know who has steam accounts has no interest in retrogaming whatsoever.

Could these steam sales be folks who backed the kickstarter and got steam keys or something?

And people using a Nintendo console to play old-school adventure games??

Really, we're living in very weird times concerning videogaming.
Anyone wants to share more theories?

EDIT :
And is the game any good? I never played Maniac Mansion. Something about the game always rubbed me the wrong way, although I loved Day of the Tentacle. I think I remembered plenty of folk getting disappointed.

A lot of Steam customers are simply driven by the "I want all my games in one place" thing where they will refuse to use any other store simply because it's not Steam...

I haven't played Delores, but as for Thimbleweed Park I enjoyed it. It definitely had the 1990's point & click adventure vibe to it.

It's not a DLC, but a standalone free game. I guess it being released on a Saturday made it miss day-1 release here.

People like buying good games, regardless of age and store?

Thanks for your opinions. I guess the answer is more simple than I thought.
I never imagined that steam would provide such a customer base for old-school gaming. But the fact that it has 10X (or more) the customer base of GOG inevitably means more purchases of all kinds.

Never imagined Switch players playing this type of game, though. Times do change.

But this is a free game - they wouldn't be generating 'sales' anywhere.
If they're happy to give it to steam and epic, they should also be happy to give it DRM-free here, to GOG.

I haven't played Delores, since that's currently only on steam and epic, and I don't like games with DRM.
But Thimbleweed Park was really good, and Maniac Mansion was fantastic.

I think point 'n click adventures fit naturally into the Switch as a console mostly due to the touch screen.
I do not own a Switch, but if I had one I would definitely get some point 'n click adventures just to see how they feel on the platform.
Well, in that case they're not really "point 'n click" games but rather "touch" games, but you get the point.

I didn't know the Switch had a touch-screen... I thought it was buttons only. I guess that explains a lot, then.
Thanks.
