Tarhiel: Good point, but I trust Otherside, being veterans as they are, will fix their problems sooner or later.
Even game industry veterans can make mistakes .

BleepBl00p: The Steam users dont have a clue about older Ultima titles. They reviewed the game as it is.

I would bet that even without bugs or issues the game is trash. It smells like a nostalgic cash grab.
If you haven't played it yourself, then that opinion holds little weight (watching videos or reading reviews don't count)

Petrell: OtherSide Entertainment is legally obligated to provide DRM-free copy for backers at launch
Since when are developers legally obligated to deliver anything to backers? It's been a while since I've tracked crowdfunding but wouldn't that be a first?

When you have been gaming for a certain time, like 20 years, you develop a sort of 6th sense that allows you to smell bad games without even playing them.

The game shows red flags all over the place.

tinyE: I've been playing games for thirty years.

The only thing I've developed a 6th sense for is your bullshit.
Hence why your library is full of bad games.

If by mistakes you mean that game was released buggy, sure - and they still can patch it up.
If you mean the game as a whole is a mistake - well, I have to play it yet to be able to tell that.

But I would definitely welcome save anywhere mod.

You know what else got really bad reviews:

Raider of the Lost Ark, Alien, and Psycho.

I got you beat (on the 20 years), so ;)

You ever watch a movie that everyone hated on and you liked? Read a book that no one enjoyed but you did? Like a band or album no one loved but you did? Yah, that. Granted, this game may not be for you, or you may think it sucks by looking at what other people are saying or seeing something in it that makes you think so or even the fact it's "not like the originals", but everything is subjective

The guy just came out in favor of book burning. Somehow I don't think logic is going to work here. :P

SAVE A TREE, BURN A BOOK!

@Mawthra I dont recall ever enjoying a book/movie/game that had negative critical reviews. I only play good games.

Id rather believe that it is actually objective but our current science/technology isnt able to properly measure it.

Negative reviews on Steam already point out many objective flaws.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has gotten phenomenal reviews... yet I've encountered more bugs and glitches in that game than any other game in recent memory (horse constantly gets stuck on geometry, camera clipping through walls, one time I was too close to the edge of a cliff and instantly got thrown into the sky and consequently fell to my death)... so there's that

Most AAA games get phenomenal reviews regardless of their quality. Without even playing RDR2 or looking at reviews I could predict that it would be shit because it is created by an AAA studio and uses the same old cookie cutter open world formula as the rest.

these are urban myths... sorry...

Raiders of the Lost Ark was very well received by critics, it even had 9 Oscar nominations, and won 5 of them

Alien had a little more mixed reception, yes, but overall not bad. some critics expected more "Star Wars" film, and other criticism was meet with the releases of director's cut and extended editions which made the film better (and got praise for it)

Again, Psycho, had a very mixed reception. Some critics liked it, other did not (a Marmite film, I think it still is, I never consider it Hitchcock's best film). Some of the criticism was off course due to pushing the boundaries of what was allowed to show of gore and blood, but others are quite justified in the critic of low production values and mis-representation of schizophrenia (which in fact has a lot to answer for today...). Anyway, the reception was not "bad", but very mixed. Audience really liked it, and it made a lot at the box office.

If you want a good example, then I would use Citizen Kane, which completely bombed in the theater and with critics on release, but today is constantly among "top 10" films of most critics and experts.
