I saw a game on sale (The Witcher 3 GOTY) and decided to buy it. In the time it took to put the game into my basket and checkout, the price had gone up. I thought that was just bad luck and that GOG had different price points which fluctuated during a sale, but this morning I received an email about the game (which is on my wishlist) and again the price in the email (stating prices fixed for 24 hours) is lower than it is once you click on it. The email says nothing about tax.

Can someone explain what might be going on here? Thanks.

Gifts are never below US (high) price all over the world. If you are not buying a gift, then I do not know what is the cause.

The game should cost £13.99 with a 60% discount. What price/discount are you getting? Are you sure you are viewing its price in pounds and not in US dollars?

The original discount I can't remember. It may have been 75% but has since gone down to 60%. I remember a figure of 13. something, but the only currency options I have are US dollars and Euros, so I think it must have been in Euros (that's in my settings). To answer your question, the email states 15.59 euros which is £13.75, but once I click the link it's 19.95 euros which is £17.65. The website also shows it as 19.95 euros. Does anyone in the UK have a £ currency option?

It is strange that you are presented with a € option as GOG officially supports £. Have you tried logging in via a different browser? Do you still only get a choice between € and $?

In the US the discount has been 60 percent for the duration of the sale. If it was 75 percent you are pretty lucky because that would make it twelve dollars and fifty cents. I have never seen it anywhere near that cheap.

Probably was some kind of glitch. Can you post a screen capture of that email (covering any personal details)?

The Witcher 3 GOTY was never discounted more than 60%, and the non-GOTY version more than 50%.
You can check RWarehall's spreadsheet or Yepoleb's database.

Edit:
The GOG forum thread for Yepoleb's database.

Good call. Logged in with Firefox and was able to change currency to £. Looks like Pale Moon is not (or is no longer) fully supported. And The Witcher 3 is showing at £13.99 (still 19.95 euros on Pale Moon but 15.59 euros on FF). Anyway it looks like for whatever reason the correct prices weren't getting displayed by the old browser.

Thanks for everyone's help.
