Suggestion:
When manually downloading files of game add button DOWNLOAD ALL. Which would... download all files could be in zip.
Why: Sometimes GOG Galaxy doesnt work, so you need to load files manually, however there could be many files and it could be tricky to catch them all, can miss some part. SO to be sure a button to dowload all would help.

EDIT Clarification. Me bad. I was thinking aout 1 game having multiple files, like main game in 8 files + extras + dlc + extra soundetrack It could really pile up. Some games really go nuts with dlc. So only 1 game at once but multiple files from this game. The main reason is that you could miss some file if you do it manually.

Try gogrepo.py or gogcli.exe if you want a download all option.

That said, imagine a bunch of people downloading 150 game or more non-stop.

DOWNLOAD ALL, is really only sensible if you are just going to do half a dozen games or so.

We don't need the servers being abused, as we have poor download speeds often enough as it is.

True, but implementing optional peer-to-peer protocol support to the download client would alleviate that problem.

E.g. Humble Store offers the option to download your DRM-free game installers using any bittorrent client. Or alternatively, you can download them also directly from their servers with a web browser.

If only GoG had some kind of download manager that could do this. They could call it the GoG Downloader, and it could be a little lightweight application that could download the installer and all the associated goodies by clicking one button on the game card on the account page on the website.

Ah ok, I thought the OP was asking about a button that will download ALL his GOG games in one swoop (which is what e.g. gogrepo does).

Maybe he meant just downloading all the files for one game...

Depends. If he meant downloading all his games, the old GOG Downloader sucked for trying to download 2000+ GOG game installers. It doesn't suck quite as much as using a web browser for it (less mouse clicks), but it still sucked.

I know because I did try to keep my meager 500+ GOG game collection up to date with it many many years ago. It had this odd habit that if I put dozens (or more) games to its download queue and came back in the morning to check its progress, quite often it had stopped at some point and greyed out all the incomplete downloads, and I had to add them one by one back to the queue.

EDIT: Also, some Galaxy user needs to confirm: I thought that if you download the offline installers with Galaxy, there you get that "one click downloads all the parts" functionality, the same that was in the GOG Downloader client?

Can't disagree with that. Mmmm you are probably right, it now seems that way after re-reading.

Well my GUIs for gogcli.exe and gogrepo.py easily do that. As do both programs without a GUI.

I suppose, that technically my GOGcli GUI uses more than one click.

1. Click the game on the list.
2. Click DOWNLOAD button.
3. Click 'ALL'.
4. Click DOWNLOAD button.

Don't need to be a Rocket Scientist to do that, and you shouldn't miss anything if you have set appropriate settings before that or on first use.

the bittorrent though not sure how many realized just come from there server, you don't even connect to other people computers, i downloaded from Humble games through bittorrent most likely because of the legality and such there not allowed to do real peer to peer

so it's almost same as gog downloader only runs smoother and can load more games at a time

I would expect that you do connect to other people's computers too... but there aren't any others online offering those downloads, besides Humble Store's own servers. That is why you see the HS bittorrent downloads coming only from the HS servers, as there are no other downloaders (peers) online for those games you are downloading, beside you.

In that case using bittorrent doesn't really offer much of any advantage over downloading the same file directly with your web browser from their servers. However, if there were hundreds or thousands of downloaders at the same time, then it would matter and you would connect also to other people's computers to get pieces of the files.

i presume Humble Store still acts as the "tracker", while all the downloaders are "peers". That way HS can make sure that peers can only download files from each other that they have purchased.

Ok, so yeah the now obsolete GOG Downloader did pretty much what you want, and if I am not completely mistaken, so does Galaxy, if you download the "backup offline installers" with it, but some Galaxy user must confirm that because just like you, I don't use Galaxy at the moment.

Anyway, if we are talking about downloading only one game's installer, I don't see it as much of a problem if I have to click several times on my browser to get all the file parts. If the game has like dozens of separate files, then maybe using a download manager with your browser helps, so that you can queue them all more easily.

However, if we are talking about downloading masses of GOG installers, then I suggest trying out e.g. gogrepo. It is mainly meant in case you want to download all of your GOG game installers, but you can use it also for downloading only one or some of your games... it is not really optimized for the latter though.
