i have to keep restarting the download for baldurs gate - any one know the reason?

Seems part of North America has problems with downloads as we get a steady trickle of these threads. Contact GOG suppport!

Make sure your security software isn't trying to close your download, it sounds silly but it can happen depending on what you are using. If that fails, SUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPORTTTTTT
