TheBigCore: I originally said Zoom Platform, but the mod edited my post.
No worries, and that bad URL edit then, has resulted in even more mentions of the ZOOM Platform. LOL
It's really quite petty that GOG is moderating links to a store like Zoom Platform that is selling DRM-free games that GOG refuses to sell for whatever reason.

Why doesn't GOG sell it anymore? I have it on CD but not to hand right now so I would be happy to buy it again if it were on GOG.

Not really.
They warned us that they won't tolerate it any longer after all (after over a decade of allowing it, as I may add).
The linking to other stores became rampant, after the "Boycott GOG" thread went live.
I can't blame them for taking steps against this practice.
Especially when certain people who are on other store's payroll, are spreading their propaganda here.

In all likelihood the publisher doesn't want to sell it on GOG. Don't know why.

They don't want people to be happy with the old version. They want people to buy World Tour.

No it's not, as they compete with GOG with quite a number of games, and who knows what the future will bring.

It's perfectly reasonable for GOG to protect their financial interests.

Blame Gearbox and not GOG.

ZOOM Platform is just lucky they have a perpetual deal with the original owners, before Gearbox got a hold of the game.

ZOOM Platform is the only place it can currently be bought, unless you get the version in the Anniversary package at Steam.

I will never buy a game on the mentioned store where you can still buy older Duke Nukem games. It has mainly something to do with the way people here are advertising this platform in this forum.

I might reconsider it only under one condition. All of these people, especially the Community Manager and one of their Community Mods, are deleting their GOG accounts and never come back here.
Why do you care if we mention Zoom Platform here? Have you never found out about anything that you now like from another place? It's not like GOG sells Duke Nukem anymore. In any case, I'm not deleting my account.

I found out about GOG from somewhere else. Should I refuse to buy anything from here because I heard about GOG there?

I saw for example this here:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_legendary_quake_turn_25_this_month_feeling_old_yet_34694/post53

Someone answered this question and got their post deleted (note the missing post with number 54). This is probably the low point of the advertisement bullshit. Also the following conversation in the linked thread is interesting. Plus you have several threads where certain people can't hold back to advertize the mentioned store. Sometimes they try to be extra funny and play with innuendos now because they aren't allowed to put a link in their post.

There is absolutely no turning back here. This advertisement bullshit needs to stop in its entirety.

I've been using GOG for longer than you've been interested, if you fancy some games of SWAT 4 feel free to hit me up Though this is going off-topic now so in view of keeping it within CoC, the offline installers tend to have older GOG games advertised on the sidebars

I agree, it is petty and smacks of insecurity. GOG's management clearly don't like the thought of some genuine free-market competition. Of course not - that would be good for consumers and would mean they have to actually start competing on quality and customer service ...

No. Why should we? It's been commonplace on this forum for years to talk about and link to other stores, until GOG recently shut it down.

Conversely, it is commonplace and totally accepted on the Zoom Platform discord for people to post links to GOG, Steam and other stores. People often talk on there about games that are on sale on GOG. Because, Zoom isn't insecure and don't have a problem with people talking about other stores.

I agree, tbh either you allow advertising and dont lock handy threads or you dont at all.

The fact that that post is still there shows just how random GOG are on their own rules.

LOL!

Even in their replies to me these people CAN'T hold back to advertize (indirectly) the mentioned store. This says everything about their character. As I said it before, I will never buy anything there. Period.

I agree. They need to be much stricter, especially with certain people here.

Of course ... talking about other game stores equals 'advertising'. Give me a break.

It's not 'advertising' to say that the only reason Duke Nukem 3D is available DRM-free is because of Zoom Platform. That is a simple statement of fact.

Will you stop buying games from GOG and Steam if we mention GOG and Steam versions of games?

Steam has games that GOG doesn't.
GOG has games that Steam doesn't.
Zoom Platform has games that GOG doesn't.
Itch has games that Zoom Platform doesn't.
Fireflower has games that Itch doesn't.
GameFools has games that Fireflower doesn't.
Desura has games that GameFools doesn't.
Retail stores have games that Desura doesn't.
Ebay has games that retail stores don't.
