So, recently I found out on the grapevine that that for once in the long life of Debian, they've done something logical. (I'm mostly saying that as a friendly razz.)
In that someone has copied the venerable AUR; (and COPR) meaning that user built packages can be sent to a central repository rather than having to rely on Ubuntu's horrible, insecure, and decentralized PPA system.
Even if this isn't an official effort, I do hope it catches on.
