A friend of mine has posted a couple of things on /r/HelpMeFind but hasn't had much luck. Anyone fancy having a go?

Most recent one:

I think this was a Windows 2000 era program (but could have been Windows 98) where you would select a file on your computer to be a fighter and it would have stats (health/attack/defense) based on the file's attributes (e.g. file size).

EZmode was to select the Windows page file, which would often be huge and give you great stats for your "fighter" :)

Pretty sure it had a blue or purple theme to the UI? Anyone remember this?
Let me know if you know what this is (or can find it)! GOGs will be given as reward, of course :)

EDIT #1: Some additional information

It was text based and was just fighter vs fighter. I think it only had one screen which had your fighter stats and the opponent's stats and they dueled.
EDIT #2: More information:
Text based as in "has no graphics" and it looked a bit like this

??

edit: Looking at the website, it sounds more newer that what you describe but it;s the same concept it appears.

reedit: I;m going out the door for the night. I found that via this google search:

https://www.google.com/search?q=pc+fighting+game+that+uses+your+system's+files

Maybe someone can fine tune that a bit to see if something else comes up.

Concept is totally different (though somewhat similar to Inner Space).

She says the file fighter was purely text based (one page of GUI with just the stats on) and was about dueling "file fighter" vs "file fighter".

Sorry, looked at the same to be since it's using file stats as fighting stats.

You mention it was text based. I wonder if it was a BBS door game....

Text based as in there were no graphics (sprites and such). It was a GUI application.

It looked something like this.
