Hi,
I have tried the new 2.0 but have Not found the same setting's that I relied on with the older interfaces.
Will the Finished 2.0 have all the old user setting's I am accustomed to for privacy and Off-Line game saves ?
I would like to change the Game Save folder to my Games Hard Drive instead of my documents folder, as I regularly use System Image as a Backup.
Also I am not sure what is the cause but my games seem to malfunction like a driver is missing or something with 2.0.
Thank you very much
LP

LinuxPusher: snip
Maybe go and ask here:

With GOG Galaxy 2.0 every time I click the install button it allows me to choose the directory to install the game to so full control on where it goes.

Never had missing driver or file issue with Galaxy so can't comment on that.

So you want a feature back that never existed? Every game has it's own save location, independent of Galaxy. If you want a good backup system for your offline savegames, have a look at Gamesave Manager: https://www.gamesave-manager.com/

If you want to set up your general privacy settings for your GOG account, just do it in your browser. It's a "set and forget" thing... why the need to do it in Galaxy?

MANY (post-MS DOS) games have a predetermined save game location outside the installation directory. There's no control at all (unless you use a backup manager or make manual Junction points).

I missed one word when I first read the post so thanks for pointing that out (game directory instead of game save directory).

You are completely correct though that save game directories are handled by the games themselves and not the Galaxy client, older DOS games would allow you to pick where you want to save but newer games tend to have a fixed location.

Could be, but I've never encountered one of those. Every DOS game I've played just saves somewhere within the installation folder (directory :-P ).

I guess it's company dependent, Sierra allowed you to save just about anywhere, and other companies allowed this before hard drive space wasn't a premium so you could save to floppy disk and such, The Wizardry games you would need to create Master save disks.

But as Teceem has said the saving is all down to the publisher of the game .

Oh, I actually have most Sierra adventures - here and on compilation discs. I vaguely remember it now, but last time I played one was in the 90s...
