What made me happy recently was getting to spend the day with my mother, we got to catch up and made Manicotti and Brownies together and watched a movie together afterward. Our lives and schedules are often so busy, so it was nice to be able to have that time together.

As for something that makes me happy:
I am happy in general to see the union of two of my favorite mediums, metal (music genre) and DRM-free gaming, whenever it occurs. The game linked above has original compositions by one of the brilliant members of the band Septicflesh. For others who share my interests, also sold on GOG are the games Slain: Back from Hell and Valfaris (+ its aptly named DLC), which have music by a former Celtic Frost member. Maybe best of all is Apocalipsis: Wormwood Edition (currently on sale this week here on GOG for the total bargain price of $0.49 !! ) with narration by Nergal, legendary main man of Behemoth.
