Is this visual novel interactive or not?
It's fine if you don't get it, but I'm not going to keep repeating myself.

It's fine if you pretend I don't get it, but I don't see how it would be impossible to reply to such a simple question.

From the page that was linked here earlier:

"Tokyo Dark is an anime-style horror adventure game combining point and click and visual novel genres. The story follows Detective Itō accross Tokyo, searching for the truth behind her partner's strange disappearance. Featuring puzzles, stat management, and difficult decisions, Tokyo Dark puts the narrative in the hands of the player. Players' decisions change Itō's character, opening or locking options and leading to 11 different endings."

If all of these features are true, then it is indeed more interactive and complex than various games GOG is already selling.

( Interactive is a strange term to use, though. If you only have to press a single button to advance text or trigger a cutscene, that's interaction too. )

Actually what you're describing doesn't qualify as interactivity by most established standards, it would rather be considered "reactive" than "interactive". And the term "interactivity" is a quality, like "attractiveness". There aren't just two levels of attractiveness, "attractive" and "not attractive", and the same is true for interactivity. When something's called "interactive" it demonstrates a certain level of overall quality related to its interactivity. Calling something interactive due to containing the most basic forms of interaction is like calling someone attractive for having only a single feature that contributes to their attractiveness ("he has nice hands, I guess?").

So yeah, I feel that if someone calls a VN "interactive" it should be assumed that it has more to offer than simply scrolling through all the text, more so if someone went as far as describing it as "highly interactive".
To be fair, visual novels are not games. So... I don't see why they'd sell that nonsense here.
Just get them to sell it on Humblebundle DRM free.
If gog don't want to enter a very popular market, then feck 'em, let others make the money.

Or perhaps "it was too niche" ;p

EDIT: Wow, just checked out hatoful (had heard of it, had never seen it).
If that...thing, can make it onto here, surely anything could o0

That still makes it a somewhat meaningless term to describe the quality of a game though, if it leaves that much room for interpretation.

In any case, while I can't say if this game is actually good, it does seem to offer more content and depth than some other releases already available here, so this shouldn't be a reason for GOG to reject it. ( Of course, their reasons for accepting or rejecting games frequently can be hard to comprehend. )

Klumpen0815: There's something from Daedalic on sale that isn't even here and it's DRM-free as well as multi-platform:

I don't like walking simulators but in this game you play a drug addict called "Sam" - that alone makes it worth recommending. :D

Going by the reviews it's actually good. But a visual novel with pigeon characters certainly seems like a niche game.

If I remember correctly, it's more of a Point & Click Adventure style game. There are some puzzles and I think the character has an inventory. Bought it a while ago, but didn't like it much. :/

There. Was that so hard for the OP? :B
Saw this game in the recent Humble Bundle.

Given that GOG now takes many visual novels. Would this be reconsidered, or has that boat already sailed?

Game is not DRM-free on Humble Bundle, unfortunately.

The game was published by Square-Enix, who are not particularly DRM-free friendly. GOG has some games published by Square-Enix, most of which are oldies, so we may have to wait awhile for it to be released here.
