Hi I hope anyone can help me because this problem is driving me crazy. So last week I purchased The Witcher 3 goty edition. I installed GOG galaxy and installed the game, everything ran fine until today.

GOG galaxy won't show up, it is active in task manager but it just doesn't show up. Whenever I reinstall the application it works untill I restart my laptop. I feel like I've done everything already but nothing helps. Can anyone help me with this problem. I know I can just start the .exe of the Witcher game, but I need to have the cloud saves and achievements it was one of the reasons I wanted to give GOG Galaxy a shot.

I love the game and I love that it's all DRM free (and GOG Galaxy worked perfectly the first time) and I was really glad with my purchase, but this is driving me crazy and got me thinking why I just didnt buy the Steam version... :(.

Do you have the newest version of Galaxy? Version 1.2.32 fixes an issue that causes Galaxy to take a long time to start.

I had same problem than you that galaxy didnt start but ran in the background.
You could take a look into the json files in C:\programdata\gog.com\galaxy with a texteditor. They should have plain text in them.
For me one of these files was corrupt on my laptop and deleting it made Galaxy rebuild it and start normally again.

You are amazing!!! It worked like a charm! Thank you so much, I had the feeling I had tried everything and searched the whole web, never guessed it would be so simple. Thanks to you I can enjoy my game fully again! Thank you!
FYI, GOG team: this is a real problem. I am using Windows 10, and since the last update this has been an issue for me as well. The GOG process starts (can be seen running in task manager), but the program itself does not open on the desktop. Uninstalling and re-installing Galaxy allows it to open only until the computer is restarted, at which time the issue reoccurs.

After following the instructions in this topic, I found that deleting or renaming the "communication_config.json" file at least temporarily solves the problem.
