Some good friends of mine are leaving to another state. These people have been a staple of my LAN & Board gaming weekly events.

I don't normally mess with online games but with them leaving I'm looking for some GOG titles that we can get that play like a board game.

* FPS
* Fighting Games
* Brawlers
* SHUMPS

are my favorite genres but these are not their cup of tea. We are looking for something we can do where we take turns or something similar.

Any thoughts?

A few that I know of.
The Civilization series (and some related games like Colonization and Alpha Centauri) would be perfect.
There are also quite a few games out there that play like a computer version of the old war board games that might be suitable.
Lots of thinking and strategy in those games but probably not a lot of over-the-top violence (blood, guts, gore etc)

The Heroes of Might and Magic series would be a good option if you like a fantasy setting.
Through the Ages is a literal video game version of the board game and it's quite good. It's like a board game version of the Civilization series.

Maybe these fit the description?

https://www.gog.com/game/through_the_ages Features: Compete with your friends online.

https://www.gog.com/game/galaxy_trucker Features: - Compete online and play multiple games at the same time

Both games are actually boardgame adaptions, both games are neither FPSs, Fighting Games, Brawlers nor SHMUPs.

I haven't tested the multiplayer component, but my sugestions would be:
Sengoku Jidai and
Panzer Corps.
Look no more literally than Europa Universalis.

But what you're most likely looking for is games with Play By Email elements, which can cover a surprisingly wide swathe. For example, Space Empires IV is just such a game.

Actual boardgame-like gameplay with dice rolls and stuff.

Very fun in coop, might test your friendship. :p
Gwent?

I've never played it myself, but it seems like the obvious choice (and it's free to play).

Board games or board-like with cool multiplayer: For The King, Antihero

If you are looking for PBEM games, Age of Wonders (1,2 or shadow magic, not later ones) might suit you. Probably some of the 4x sci-fi games should also feature this kind of multiplayer but sincerely I don't know which ones...

Play by Email would be ideal!!!

Civ IV, which is indeed sold here is the last Civ game (that I know of) to include such an option.

I own Colonization and play it often, how do I get a MP game of it up and running?
I believe that most Slitherine games do PBEM when they come with multiplayer, such as Panzer Corps, Order of Battle, Down on Moscow, Sengoku Jidai or Field of Glory II to name a few.

Now to mention it, I find intriguing that with Field of Glory II and Sengoku Jidai here, Pike and Shot still isn't yet.

With the consideration of board games, Field of Glory is actually originally a board war game, and IIRC, the original designer is involved with Field of Glory II.

For Colonization (1990), I don't think that's possible without some caveats such as succession play. (Play for X turns and pass to next player.)

Civ IV Colonization is easy: Multiplayer>Play By Email>Setup accordingly.
