Don't troll the thread, this is a serious question. This is not steam's forum.

What is going on with the fair price thing? Has 2018 not been profitable? What if I buy games here, and the operation goes bankrupt and I lose everything?

Is this a sinking ship? I'm afraid to buy games here now.

You won't lose anything if you DL the installers and keep them backed up.

That doesn't answer much. To the trolls, wow I'm surprised even gog isn't free from them. I expected more mature answers.

Is gog not profitable anymore? If gog isn't, then this is pretty sad. I hate how steam and gabe newell treats its users. I don't want to buy games there anymore...

There are five of these threads plainly visible on the main forum page, yet he has the gall to give us shit for trolling. :P

There is a giant "OPEN" sign on the front door of my business. At least once a day someone will open it, stick their head in and ask, "Are you open?"

I'm guessing you are that person. :P

It's ending, it was not sustainable now that devs want higher cuts due to the Epic Store.

I'm not sure it's as bad as the media and some would have you believe, but it does appear 2018 has been a bit rough for GOG. However, the 4th quarter results haven't came out yet apparently so still a bit to soon to tell just how bad it is.

Chances are if that was to come, you would have some warning to be able to download your stuff. Anything not downloaded would be lost yea. This is true of any online game store, but on GOG it's better due to the ability to obtain offline installers

Everything ends at some point. GOG will end. Steam will end, etc. Right now GOG is still okay and as far we know will be around for some time to come. One bad year isn't likely to end them just yet. If there is a game you want to buy, I would just buy it.

One of GOG's staff (a blue) has answered this, you can read it here -
GOG's response

Short answer: They aren't going bankrupt or closing up this entire shop. Many are guessing however, that GOG is restructuring, where amongst other things, they are planning to take a lower cut (due to competition like Epic taking a lower % in storefront share). This could affect profit margins and results in adjustments as to what services they can or can't offer.

I hope it does not go bankrupt. It is one of the few sites that sells DRM-Free video games. I will try to buy more games in GOG even if I get more expensive than in other places.

The only good thing is that I do not have so many games in case the page ceases to exist, but I wonder how the users with 500 or more games will sove the problem of downloading so many installers.

From the perspective of being a singleplayer gamer, that's all the answer I need.

Should you primarily be buying a game for features specifically offered by Galaxy though, then yes, you'd face the same risks as with using any other gaming client should the service cease.

Well, if it were sinking, you'd still have enough time to pack all your stuff and get to safety with all the loot. Of course, if you wait until the water is already flooding your cabin, it might be a little too late.
I wonder if GOG would ever think of selling out, allowing their customers to transfer their accounts to the company buying them out, like Steam, and avoid having to lose most of their games.

GOG is a publicly traded company

If GOG makes investors nervous, then investors get what they want. If Investors want to sell GOG, they will. GOG is not your friend. GOG is beholden to shareholders, not you.
