Take any random game that's present both on Steam and GOG. Type a random "Help! I am stuck on this mission", or "Help! My game isn't launching!" problem into your browser.
You will quickly find that most of the search results are from Steam.
Check the greatest game of all time, Baldur's Gate 2. In a search, Steam shows up on top. GOG is below, and probably only there because i have visited it.
This is not very good for GOG. This supports the assumption that Steam is the default platform and GOG is some sort of a fan forum.
Therefore GOG should invest money into Google searches. It would surely help them with business
