Take any random game that's present both on Steam and GOG. Type a random "Help! I am stuck on this mission", or "Help! My game isn't launching!" problem into your browser.

You will quickly find that most of the search results are from Steam.

Check the greatest game of all time, Baldur's Gate 2. In a search, Steam shows up on top. GOG is below, and probably only there because i have visited it.

This is not very good for GOG. This supports the assumption that Steam is the default platform and GOG is some sort of a fan forum.

Therefore GOG should invest money into Google searches. It would surely help them with business

So basically what you are saying is that GOG should join the "buy our way into success and f*&^ the competition!" game? Just like Steam?
Or we could ignore Google entirely and just go to DuckDuckGo instead?

Personally I'd take a higher priority to invest in burying the entire Wikia property in molten lead casks than trying to boost GOG.

Steam has over 150 million users.
GOG has a fraction of that.
There's no question that Steam is the more relevant search result based on that alone. Plus, that many more users generate significantly more posts, so Steam is more likely to be in the search results by volume as well. On top of that, Steam has a Guides tab (and Artwork) for user content, while GOG only has discussion forums.

Search engine optimization isn't likely to help much with that, whereas paying for more favorable placement would basically be a bribe. Not like an underdog like GOG could fork over more cash than Valve anyway.

I agree Duck Duck Go is good

However i simply can't be bothered to retype all my password. I think Google considers me too little a person to take an interest in me.

Tor is superior to Chrome but it's less convenient. The same situation

So the situation is doomed?

The false circle can't be undone?

So basicaly more money = more money = more money and so on?

GOG needs to hire a troll exterminator.
I happen to be for hire, I've plenty of flammable acid chemicals.
