It's a bit unsettling to see how "gamergaters" see themselves as "the gamers" or "the gog customers". By the same logic through which all populist leaders see themselves as "the nation" or "the people" and ISIS sees itself as "the muslims".

You know, guys, shockingly enough, there's probably enough "fake scotsmen" amongst gog's customers to support it for a while.

Anyway, I'd be grateful if gamergaters would stop implying that I'm one of theirs. Please ? It creeps me as much as when swiss (or greek) politicians claim to speak in my name.

still no comment to the alienated consumer on gog?
still silence to death?
still getting put in place by threatening to censor this thread?
still comments being deleted based on mod's opinion if it gets to hot?

yeah, it should be obvious that this thread is being monitored hard. And yet, they choose to stay silence. I can understand it, they fear the MSM strawman tactic, they have to protect their reputation in front of all those people still reading kotaku and other gamejournopro outlets.

i mean, we all know who is in the boat of yellow journalism, http://www.deepfreeze.it/journo.php list is long, their influence still in tact. (thanks technology and bots) and we all know that the normal person is still not aware of bias, still following their opinion makers and what not influencers and shills on all social media boards. Only uncontrollable anime image boards fall of that boat but are not the only ones talking about this. On the more controlled boards like resetera, neogaf or hell even reddit (the most pro censoreship webpage in the History of internet) it is talked about too, of course the problematic comments vanished like dust in the storm. Keep up the silence, it is very telling, keep up the support for the sjw narrative, we already saw behing it.

i had a heart for gog, but you took a piss on it by removing the piss on the bias journalism graveyard.

If a comment breaks the rules then it's getting moderated. This isn't a 'censorship' issue, there are rules here. It's really that simple.

Ownanierer: Wow, I didn't expect this crybullying to work with GoG. GoG has to understand that the people throwing a tantrum about this do not buy their games. I am deeply dissapointed that GoG backs down on people without humor who throw a tantrum at the slightest sign of someone who could be "offended".
The only tantrum I see is the one that you're part of.

Agreed, after all, some people bought wolfenstein 2 (ironically i still want to play it, but after they went socjus pro antifa marketing i ain't buying)
Some even liked andromeda.

Anyway, personally i avoid mixing it, even if people agree with gg they don't necessarily identify themselves with supporting gg. And there's those that don't care and some that are against.

I'm not super familiar with the wolfenstein series, so pardon me if I'm mistaken here, but weren't the nazis already depicted as the bad guys in wolfenstein 1 ?

Wolfenstein II had a different kind of Nazis. LITERAL Nazis, instead of the real ones.

I know exactly what I wrote & I'm dead serious.

takamina: Wanting games that cater to you is not the same as trying to enforce orthodoxy on games.
avatar
Lucian_Galca: On this part I agree. Sadly, i've seen some hate thrown at people for wanting entertainment media to cater to them, and at media for trying to cater to those people. Baldur's Gate: Siege at Dragonspear is one example. Some gave the devs hell over a minor character that happened to be trans.
I REALLY didn't want to enter this thread, but some of it was warranted, because we're referring to a world that gender changes exist in full, so it was seen as Beamdog not understanding the core material. (Which is how I understood the main gist of the complaint.) I'm sure there probably were some gaybashers involved, but that doesn't dismiss the issue entirely, especially considering it was a bulletpoint throwaway thing and not even worth the controversy, in my opinion.

They could have written a solid story about it, explained how gender changes in D&D operate, yadayada. So, yeah, it was a huge case of virtue signalling and both sides ate it up.

My personal opinion of Beamdog is that they're a trash company, but not because of their social stances. I literally give zero effs about that. I care that they're a vulture picking over classic games.

kongxinga: This grovelling to the new censors is disappointing, and you are making steam look good. Please, please, learn from your mistakes and never attack your customers again. GG is a complicated topic and I don't blame you for making mistakes on it, but when was it ever a good idea to attack your customers in favor of a few vocal complainers that probably don't buy your product?
If you never harassed or abused anyone then they did not attack you. They separated themselves from the harassment wing of GamerGate which is widely promoted by the press, that's all. You guys are taking this stuff way too seriously.

Yeah, it's not really a problem with killing nazis.

At the time there was a mess with antifa calling everyone who was white and male a nazi, attacking people etc...
At that point id should've been careful about what they say to promote and removed themselves from political bs, instead they decided to side with antifa and go full left wing..

pretty much pissing off a large portion of their customers.

As for the game itself, can't tell as i didn't play it ;)

Crosmando: If all the anti-SJW sentiment in this thread is a "raid" then could you please post a link to the 4chan, 8ch (or wherever) thread which is telling people to come to this thread and downvote? I'll be waiting.
avatar
RWarehall: If it's all a raid, why do most of the new posters have join dates from years ago and 100-200 games on their profiles?
It's the same thing when Gamergate first started. We're all sock puppet accounts for 10 or so people (according to many game journalists). None of us are real apparently.

Here's the thing, the vast majority of GoG customers don't visit the forums - the forumites are the minority. The fact that posters who have join accounts years old are posting their displeasure for the first time should be a sign on how big of a blunder GoG made.

I'm here for the DRM-free. If not for that I would've left GoG long ago. But they are really pushing it with all their recent blunders - from mandatory galaxy bundled installers to mandatory public profiles to this stuff. Granted they fixed the first two eventually but it seems like GoG doesn't think before doing stuff. All of those issues could have been easily avoided.

What specifically was their "pro-ANTIFA" message?

Wrong.
Many people took side of gamergate because their favorite games were attacked for no other reason than to get clicks. Then followed censorship, virtue signaling and often quality drop to not offend protected species aka journalists.

Even if you don't give crap you get affected by it sooner or later ;/
Hell snowflakes affect themselves, recent guardians director drama ? it just biting them back. The dude that brought tweets to light ? Anti GG doxing and harassment victim. Ironically the very same people who defend him now used very same tactics to destroy people they didn't like, getting them fired for bad jokes.

The very date on a tombstone marks harassment against gamers launched by journalists... gg wasn't born for lulz and sure as hell people who still act on it years after ain't in here cause they like it.

Fair enough. I agree there is a discussion to be had about writing such characters and things better.

Beamdog could definitely stand to do better with some of the D&D stuff, especially in regards to taking awhile to fix bugs, but some of the hate that pops up in the forums whenever they do just about anything at all is a bit much.

Like many arguments on here I think you missed a huge part of what I said because of language barrier or whatever else. I said "harassment WING" in order to specifically point out I don't think every GG member is a harasser. Hell, I don't think everyone in any group is anything, that's not how groups work. However the way the world works is that groups get tainted by their worst actors, and GamerGate has enough harassers or harassment defenders in it to ruin its reputation. GOG wants nothing to do with that reputation as a business, hence the twitter post removal. It all makes 100% sense if you remove your emotional politics from it.

P.S. I googled the Wolfenstein thing and assuming you were referencing the talk between the two guards I think that's hilarious. It's an exaggerated, fictional message like in Indiana Jones, not a declaration of war. Similar to how many great 80's classics had an exaggerated anti-corporate message (which sadly had zero effect).
