For goodness' sakes. This whole thing is sad, mostly because now there are two equally-moronic sides trying to force GOG to get involved in politics when they have no interest in doing so as a company, neither should they.

A tweet was posted. It was a mistake. Big deal. They didn't realize it was a Gamergate reference and took it down, whatever, problem solved, end of story. But no, by sheer luck, the poor sods picked the singular most divisive topic, because as we all know, anything they do can now and forever not be good enough for anybody. Two lovely options:
A) If they knuckle down and leave up a mistake, they're siding with the pro-GGers and are now racists, sexists, bigots, etc. Nevermind the fact it was taken from the game itself and one tweet doesn't make a whole company.
B) If they take it down, suddenly they're giving in to the SJW, bullying, degenerate scum and deserve worse than death because they're traitors turning their backs on their "true" fanbase, as if most gamers even give a crap about this stuff.
Lo and behold, GOG is now pinned in a lovely tug-of-war whereby they now MUST pick a side, otherwise, ooohhhh noooo, they'll lose the "true" fans! They'll be on the "wrong side of history" and suffer for their sins!

Did it ever occur to some of y'all that they maybe posted a tweet they didn't understand by accident, realized their simple mistake, and then decided to revoke it because they didn't want to get involved with the exact political storm in a teacup everyone's trying to raise? If you're suddenly deciding that GOG no longer deserves your money because of either of these things, you never cared about this place to begin with. Please, for goodness' sakes, stop trying to mix politics and gaming, for your own health and sanity, and stop acting like the companies you pay money to represent your moral values. Just play the games you want, how you want to.

To GOG or any employees reading, I advise you ignore this mess and any other nonsense happening on Twitter, Reddit, or wherever. It's a minority of users that are vocal, and your worst-case scenario if this thing blows up is that you get free publicity. Most people don't even know what GOG is anyway. Ride that wave, don't get involved, and keep on keepin' on.

Wouldn't care if gog wanted to play it safe and remove post and apologize.
However, galling gamergate abusive is not only insulting to a lot of gamers, it pretty much equals to taking stance by cdprojekt ;/

@up, yep, it's not really removing that screwed them up. It's what they said while removing it.
Simple removal wouldn't make gog take a stance, it'd be understood as pr. Calling GG abusive movement however makes it clear.

Sad to see it happen, I always considered this company one above this bullshit.

THIS but I also need to add that apologizing for such a reference is out of sense, same as condemn the whole GG for all the BS they comdemn them. If we cannot make references to what happens in the community, in one side or the other... we are doomed.

As a whiny SJW, I just want the broflake GG crowd to stop making threads. I don't care about the tweet and never have.

As recompense, I will try to remember to post about my next bowel movement. (Not sure if I'll be able to make it seem as worthy of masturbatory outrage as this, though.)
Just be sure to come up with some way to tie your turd to some political tribe, and it will no doubt spawn a massive brouhaha between snowflakes and the broflakes who fails to realise they behave just like the people in the other camp.

i_hope_you_rot: May i suggest a separate section for these kind of threads ( also for the political craap ) ? We can call it " asylum " or " the hell " .

WATCH IT WITH THE LANGUAGE!

THERE ARE CHILDREN IN HERE!

Most of them are the ones bitching and moaning about this whole thing. :P

If GOG ever removes the game from the storefront we raise hell IMO. Valve suffered a massive backlash for similar bs.
I hope that the tweet being remove is as far as this goes. Frankly even that was bs, but eh. As long as the devs can sell their game all good. All GOG.com has done here is hurt their own sales.

Thanks GoG for insulting your consumers.

What I do now?
I am not a maso and I can not bought from a company who used lies to insult me.

GG was proved innocent by the FBI himself.
It's on their website.

I'm surprised Gog picked sides. I would have believed they made no mistake and should have kept it up.. All they did was advertise a game. Some people won't like it other will.. but to take it down because a faction is upset? What the hell?

Gog don't pick sides.. post the pic and write the description as is and let it flow... Some will like it others won't and few will bitch. Don't give in. Stand your ground... Let the players decide if its worth there $$... rest can F off!

It was not a reference to Gamergate. The date on the gravestone is the date several online gaming magazines launched "Gamers are Dead" articles simultaneously.

"Games journalism - commited suicide Aug. 28th 2014"

and now read the headlines from that day:

The Tweet wasnt a mistake it just showed a crude joke at bad games journalism. The removal and apologies that followed
Are picking a side.

Had it been a neutral response we do not intend political support to anything I would have been fine with it. But that was not what it was done.

SO it seems no one actually understands gamergate. Let me break it down.

An X got mad at his girl and accused her of sleeping with journalists for reviews. The person she slept with did not review her work. This was a very small group of people that jumped on this and accused and attacked her.

Game Journalists got together and made a collective attack on Gamers as 'dead' and 'old' and 'not worthy of games' because of this tiny group of people that actually did the first round of things. (Before it was called gamergate)

This is where it really starts. This is gamergate. Gamers got mad because the journalists that are supposed to be doing things for them, to report to them, to sell to them... came out and attacked not just the people doing this but the entirety of gaming culture. Then some digging was done and a large amount of sketchy actions were uncovered that the Journalists did.

So people got mad at being called trash and they revolted. They got mad at the people they trusted not giving fair reviews but manipulating the information. They pretty much won too, even though the MSM came to the conclusion that this was about women in gaming, game journalism sites at least many of them have put up codes they will follow.

As such, yes they should be peed on and yes we should be mad that the very same Journalists have attacked GOG and convinced them to back down. I want a statement from GOG on this. Why do you side with people who hate your customers?

I think at this point it's too late for that.

GOG called gg abusive movement in that sorry tweet.
Trying to apologize to gg == blown up situation from sjws and journalists.
Not apologizing == people who care about gg being pissed at gog.

Basically whether out of ignorance or not cdprojekt red just took a stance in a shitstorm they managed to avoid for years.
