So apparently Switch is getting the Grandia HD Collection, the Grandia 2 Anniversary on Steam is getting updated to Grandia 2 HD, and the first Grandia is coming to Steam as Grandia HD. I wonder if GOG has plans to include these two games over here or update their version of Grandia 2. As much as I love Grandia 2, the first Grandia is just an absolute supreme RPG and I've been aching to relive this game.
I wouldn't hold your breath, but it wouldn't hurt to contact whoever is in charge of those things.

I'd also like to check out Grandia 1.
Oh... I've yet to get Grandia 2. T_T It just rarely ever goes into promo and never goes cheaper than 50% off.

While I understand people don't have infinite money, I am always astounded by how stingy they can be...
I loved the first Grandia when I played it one bazillion years ago. Fantastic battle system and the easy-going story plays out like a shonen anime. Good stuff.

Well, if I 100% sure as hell knew I was going to play it immediately, I'd most certainly get it at 50% off. But I'll probably not play it as soon as I'd like to justify paying that price.

Like everybody else, I've been too many times in the "Oh, look, this is way cheaper now than what I payed months/years ago and I haven't even installed it so far" situation. And my backlog isn't getting smaller either. :/

While I agree with everything you said, I buy things depending on their actual cost, not discount. 50% off is like, 10 USD/EUR, it's not hugely expensive.

Edit: I mean, okay if you are buying just to expand your collection, then yes. I would wait until it drops even more. But I am working on abolishing that mindset myself.

Just a small correction there. Grandia 2 is not being updated, just renamed.
quote: "Additionally, Grandia HD Remaster will launch for PC day and date with the Switch collection, and the currently available Grandia II Anniversary Edition will be retitled Grandia II HD Remaster."

Other than that i do not see why the remaster of the first game would not come here.

How expensive gaming has become here in Brazil in the last years thanks to the fucked up exchange rate is a subject I've discussed in a few other topics here over the years, so I won't go so much into that point.

Personally, as I spent about an year and a half unemployed not as long ago as I'd like, much of my expending habits were kinda cut short by it (and not as much as they should).

Recently, I've been comparing game prices to lunch meal prices to justify buying them (I usually spend around 20 - 30 bucks on a lunch). And it's a balance between discount/actual cost. For example, I've spent a lot of time waiting for Street Fighter V's season packs to get cheaper. I had set R$9,99 for season 1 and R$19,99 for season 2 as maximum prices I'd be willing to pay. I ended up buying S1 for R$14,99 because I had a few bucks from card sales to cut a bit the price I'd actually pay (technically, I spent less than 9,99), but the very next sale, about a month later or less, I don't recall, featured the pack at that R$9,99 price. Recently, S2 has gone under the R$20,00 price, but since I have uninstalled the game and was not playing it anymore, I didn't pick it up. But I probably will in the future.

Grandia II itself, is a game I have an interest not only because it's good, but because, for a time, it was a late friend's favorite Dreamcast game. He had a pirate copy that would break near the end and he could never replace it with a working one. So he never got around to finishing it and I feel like I'd love to play it through and finish it as a way to celebrate and remember our good times together. But that doesn't mean I'll be able or even willing to play it through as immediately as I'd like. And I could even end up not liking the game, which would make everything harder.

Damn, 20 - 30 bucks is expensive for a lunch.

I am very sorry for your friend. Sigh, life is too short to be wasted; have you considered obtaining less than legal copy of PC version trying it and then paying it after you play/finish it? Actually, don't answer me, it could get us both in trouble.

My only advice is carpe diem.

He was a troubled kid, with a very troubled family. I recently watched Roketman and Elton John's life reminded me a lot of him, even though he wasn't gay (at least not that anyone who knew him would know).

As for getting the game illegally, that would only be useful to see if I can get into it, but I have to admit going after that course of action isn't very likely to happen, given the amount of games I've been trying to finish.
Grandia (the first) is getting an "HD" remake? That doesn't even make sense to me, given it's a 2D game (mostly). I guess they can make the pixels look fuzzier. What about 3 and Xtreme? While the story wasn't great, the combat actually improved from version to version. Not that any of it matters, since it will only be sold on DRM-encumbered platforms. At least I can still play Grandia on my machine, since PSX emulators work pretty well. Grandia 2 is playable as well, of course, using the Anniversary Edition, although it lacks floor reflections (and given how long it's been, I'm starting to wonder if those were my imagination).
The publisher (GungHo) is the same as the sequel, so I wouldn't rule out a release here. That is, provided they actually release it instead of giving a release window, miss it, go for a 6-months radio silence only to break it with a new "coming soon" release window.

Some games feel like they're worth full price. It's funny. I wanted to get a $40 for my collection, but even at $20, it felt like it was too much. However, I paid $36 for Bloodstained because I felt it was worth the cost. Absolutely. It's a funny thing.

Grandia 3 on my PC would be GREAT!!!! I'd pay good cash monies for that.

Awesome news. The original Grandia is one of my all-time favorites.

Same, but only if they were to add subtitles to the cutscenes. That was a pretty massive oversight in the original release.
