I wish to upload my game to the cloud. I play Grim Dawn on my PC and on my Laptop. Two entirely different games. I am currently having trouble with computer crashes the fix of which would mean the loss of my PC Grim Dawn. I would prefer to avoid that. I would like to upload my game to the "Cloud" but have no idea how to do that.

My laptop Grim dawn offers the "Upload to the cloud" option in it's main menu/ "Internet" Tab. My PC game does not. Essentially the same game but no "Cloud:" option in the game Main Menu.

Any help with saving my PC game to the "Cloud" would be enormously appreciated. If I can accomplish that I will be able to get my computer fixed. Thank you!

ensure you are using the galaxy client on BOTH devices and I would imagine you'll be fine:

https://www.gog.com/galaxy
Install Galaxy. Scan the game folder into Galaxy. Open the game through Galaxy, and the game data will upload to the cloud. Install Galaxy on your other machine. Run the game through Galaxy. It will download the saves from the cloud.

Edit: you may lose the saves on the secondary device. So if you have any saves you want to keep, back them up.

Ok, so here is the really tricky question when you consider my lack of computer talent. I have two seperate and distinct Grim Dawn games. One on my laptop and one on my PC.

When putting these games on Galaxy how do I avoid overwriting one or the other or will they always be seperate? If I have to sacrifice one then let it be the one on my laptop. It has only one medium character, My PC has several characters two relatively high level representing lots of time. If there going to be even a scintilla of doubt then the laptop game will be deleted before I put the PCversion on Galaxy.

Further my laptop Grim Dawn is via steam and my PC Grim Dawn is from GoG. Is that a complication?

Thank you for all of your help. You are saving my sanity!

You can manually copy the characters over which is probably the safer bet.
go to the save file location C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn\save
Copy that folder with your character names in it over to the other computer (via thumb drive or dropbox, etc). BACKUP THE FILES FROM THE DESTINATION COMPUTER FIRST, IN A SEPARATE FOLDER, then place the save folder from the original computer in that folder, merging and overwriting as necessary. I hope this is helpful to you.

I have a new question, recalling that which has gone on before, I now have my PC game saved to the cloud. I don't fully understand exactly what that means. Among all of my issues lately with computers I have a glitch which is causing me some concern. While I am playing the game the monitor will go black. For a short while I can hear the game sounds in the background and then all goes silent and I have to restart my computer. I have talked to a local computer repair place and he says that he will likely have to re-install my Windows 10. He says that he will not be able to save my Grim Dawn. Ok so.... does my game being saved to the cloud mean that after he re-installs W10 that I will be able to pull everything back from the cloud and load it all back into my computer? 2019 has not been a good computer year so far!

No other function on my computer causes the glitch except playing the game. I have updated my GC drivers.
I have a fan blowing into the side vent of my tower. I have a window A/C unit in a window above my tower. I suspect that possibly my monitor may be the issue. It's a 24" Dell unit. I attempted to update drivers for it and Dell says that there are no drivers for my model monitor. It's one of the first 24" models on the market back then . I have had it for 7 years or so. In any event I am wondering just what the cloud does to benefit me in this situation? Thank you again!

It does mean that, theoretically, you will get your saves back. But this may be a problem with the game if it is the only thing that causes it. There are documented cases of this as a bug in the game. Perhaps you should make sure you need to repair your computer system before you do so.

Ok..now I am in a real panic. I looked inside my case and noted a fair a,mount of dust in and around the GPU. Having experienced issues with "woolies" in the past I pulled my graphics card and blew the dust our of the cooling elements. Then, when I had reassembled the tower I fired up the game and lo and behold everything I have worked so assidously to develope over a couple of years is now gone. It's like my first day in the game. I have been logging into Galaxy per your instructions so this is apparently going to be my day to gather things back from the cloud. Is it that simple? Just log back into the game from the Galaxy? Or, did I screw the pooch and lose everything. I first opened the game outside of galaxy using my desktop icon. Is there any hope for me? I am just dumb enough to be dangerous!

I am not going to log back into the game via galaxy until I hear from you. Thank you again!

You' may be ok. If you use the cloud, your saves are stored in a different place (at least on the Steam version). So logging in through Galaxy should allow you to use your saves again. If not, your data should be in the cloud, just don't let Galaxy sync when you quit the game if your saves are there (I'd alt tab out of the game and disable your internet before you quit just to be sure).

Well as it turned out everything was in the cloud. All downloaded successfully and I spent several hours slaughtering toons. Thank you once again for your help. I am ever so slowly learnig how to navigate. By the way, No glitches today. I guess a bit of graphics card cleaning didn't hurt.
