How about another round of GWENT?

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is now officially out on PC! The official launch follows the release of Homecoming — a massive update returning GWENT to its Witcher roots, as well as incorporating gamer feedback from throughout GWENT’s Public Beta. The update introduces a complete redesign of the game’s visuals, a brand new look for the boards and faction leaders, new gameplay mechanics and a new card type, as well as over 30 new cards and a revamped deck building system.

To celebrate GWENT coming out of Public Beta on PC, everyone who participated will receive a commemorative player title. Additionally, a special Launch Celebration Pack is available to all players for a limited time. Detailed information regarding the pack’s contents are available both in-game, as well as on playgwent.com. GWENT’s launch also marks the start of a new ranked play season, featuring Mahakam-themed rewards.

The out-of-beta version of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is currently available only for PC and can be downloaded via GOG.COM.

vv221: Sorry, but you’re most probably making a mistake ;)
We’re on GOG, and they distribute only DRM-free games here. So Gwent must have a DRM-free installer, or it would of course not be distributed through GOG.
ROFL

Sorry. :)
Gwent has been seriously messed up for me. First I tried to launch it, when logging me in it said the version was unsupported or something, even though I saw no update available. Then after the update dropped, Galaxy said it was an ''unknown version''. So I tried verifying the files. It gave me an unspecified error. So I said screw it, uninstall and start over. Now the Install button is unresponsive. Maybe this is all because I have auto-update turned off.

Edit: I also tried the drop-down menu from the game from my Galaxy library. It gave me a server error. This game does not want me to play it.

Why is gwent hanging in the boot menu? I downloaded it, launched it ... showed a video where the Baron speaks, then I flew out for technical reasons, that's all. I can't go into the game anymore

matheusramos: the old version much better, I think I`ll even stop playing gwent
Why did they do this? What happened to the bottom row?
Awesome ! I like it :-P
I like it a lot. The thing is they basically changed everything so it takes some getting used to.
I think the third row was redundant. The main point is having more than one row, but you don't need 3, just melee and ranged.

They also removed the silver cards in the deck creation and added the food management thing which I think are excellent changes.

Way to go CD Projekt. Keep up the good work!

Hm, still not sure how I feel about all the changes. Some of them seem like improvements... weather seems mostly pointless now. Not only does it not affect multiple units but it is also limited turns...

Noticed some spelling/grammar errors on several cards, which doesn't exactly feel me with confidence for the Official release.

The map, while cool looking, makes the rows hard to see and I feel like I have a harder time with cards, especially when your hand gets shoved to the bottom of the screen.

Mostly, I just wish there was an option to play the different iterations of Gwent, kind of like how Magic has Type 1, Type 2, etc. I'd like to be able to go back and revisit the Gwent I initially knew and fell in love with.

It has one, go there and you can purchase the offline DRM-free version of Gwent. Of course if you want to play the multiplayer component you can play it for free but, like for a lot of other game's multi player you need to use Galaxy for that.

Start up Witcher 3 :p
Normally, after a beta the game should be less buggy and everything should be properly tested. Instead we get a buggy mess that is almost unplayable, UX is bad, the game seems unbalanced, the game crashes or stays stuck on a screen way too often, sometimes I cant even open kegs... There are also typo's in the game like "skilligers" etc (shame, shame, shame).

Conclusion: They focused on the wrong things and the release is bad. I really liked cd project red & the witcher and I really wanted to like this game. But let's be honest, it is a huge mess.

I'm probably going to give up on this game until some major updates happened.

Different titles, different price tags, different store entries…
To me these are two different games, maybe sharing a common engine and thematics.

What I see here is that GOG has a store entry for a game that doesn’t come with a DRM-free installer.
That’s the first time I see this here and it does not bode well at all, as it means that GOG is losing the main reason I come here: no need to spend time searching if a game is DRM-free or not. Selling a mix of DRM-free and DRM-ridden games is done in a lot of other places, while GOG was until now the only place I knew selling *only* DRM-free games.

They are not selling a DRM game, its a free game. So they are still selling only DRM-free games.

Lifthrasil: Sure. As soon as it's DRM-free, Galaxy-free and without micro-transactions.

PaterAlf: This would be Thronebreaker and it is out as well. ;)
I'd consider buying Thronebreaker if it weren't clearly trying to funnel people to Gwent. Give me the "no gwent bullshit included" version and I'll consider buying it, even at the same price.

Lifthrasil: But actually I would like to be able to play a round of Gwent with friends in a LAN or direct connection. With a fixed, balanced set of cards, of course. Not this collectible-cards scam and definitely without Galaxy.
QFT. Sell the damned game and let people play it. Add NEW card packs (mini-expansions) as one-time costs (DLC-style; not "account-based") to get them in your game. Get rid of the collectible DRM shit.

Poked around some more last night with the controller and noticed some bugs there too.
Can't select different leader skin.
If you jump over to filter column (in Deck Editor), controller gets stuck on top row...

And I'm sure I'll come across more. C'mon CDPR, this is the official release? :/

There is an easy mode in Thronebreaker that allows you to skip any gwent battles. So it already includes a "no gwent bullshit" version
