IAmBored2: And how much did Valve pay for that? A million here, a million there, and reviews are always on your side. Just look at Cyberpunk 2077
CityDPRED: No, unlike CC P Red Valve used their funds to make a decent game, CC P R spent all their funds on cameos of plebs.
Valve works with or is coerced by censorship groups.
scrubking: Amazing how that game has been so ignored.
StingingVelvet: I don't think VR will ever be that mainstream, for various reasons (the biggest of which being the same thing that kept 3D niche, people not wanting to wear headsets while they relax). That's not a knock on VR, just saying I don't think Alyx was capable of making it a mainstream technology, at least not yet. Maybe when it's half the cost and a quarter the weight.
Anyway, I'd love to play Alyx but VR is a total no-go for me because of my astigmatism. I doubt they ever port it to normal screens, so... oh well.
They could because we have had head tracking and hand remotes like the Wii plus for ages.
StationaryNomad: Not to mention the price of a VR setup. I'd have to upgrade my entire PC, plus another $400 USD on top of that for the VR equipment. No thanks, I'm not some kind of millionaire. Give me the Gold Box D&D games over silly VR stuff any day.
KasperHviid: Quest 2 costs $300 and works without a PC. The downside is the Facebook integration.
and its worth $0 when facebook f**ks people around.
It's insane to have these expensive pieces of equipment tied to DRM or spyware when there's no real need to do so.
