I've been trying to reply to a thread for a while now, and it's constantly showing the "in progress" icon but never actually goes through. Is this happening for anyone else?
Usually happens to me when trying to quote something with a quote. As if the code gets mixed up. If you're quoting someone, check the numbers of the quotes.

Thanks, I suspected as much, there are indeed a lot of quotes in said post. The problem is that these bare-bones forums don't provide anything in terms of quote management, preview etc. so I can't even see how they actually work. :/
It usually happens when some stray bracket did not get closed.

The forum is trying to process it, but instead giving you some useful feedback, it just hangs and doesn't tell you what the problem is. Just copy what you already had, close the current reply box, paste it into a new one and go through all your [] tags and make sure all of them are properly opened and closed. Then the reply should go through normally.

That's been my experience. For me, it used to be primarily when the quote tag didn't close, but I suppose other ones are probably fine.

I do wish they would get over the NIH and find somebody who knows how to code code the forum. It wasn't terribly amusing when anybody could embed javascript into the titles and redirect people all over the place.
gogie codin'

gogie coders

yo
For me, it tends to choke and die when someone has replied ahead of my currently in progress reply.

Frankly speaking, these forums are in dire need of a refresh.

Yep, I stripped everything down to single quote tags and then it went through.
The other thing that can cause hanging is the use of forbidden words or phrases.

EDIT: See attachment for an example.

"university" is forbidden?

I thought GOG ran out of Poland, not Alabama.
I don't think it's university, just new york university (if you capitalize it properly). If I try to edit the capital letters into this message, the edit gets rejected.
