The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is now ten years old. Happy Birthday! And while we're waiting for the game to appear on GOG, what a better time than to share our memories, feelings, and sentiments about the game.

I probably played about 50 hours into Oblivion before I got distracted by something else. And after finishing the main quest of Morrowind and uncovering the whole island of Vardenfell about one year ago, I can barely wait for Oblivion to hit GOG and finally play through the game proper as well (with some mod that fixes the levelling enemies).

My most persistent memories of Oblivion from playing it half a decade ago are running through the harbour area of Imperial City to do quests for the Thieves Guild, and wasting countless of hours in the swamplands to the south collecting some herbs for some guy somewhere.
I do like Oblivion but never finished it. I blame it on the absurd leveling/experience system, which is the worst I've seen in a major release.

One of these days I'll reinstall my CDs and get some patch that fixes the experience system, but not any time soon. Still have to finish Skyrim and it's hard getting back into that.

And I have other open worldish stuff I want to play through too, like Arcanum.

There's no reason why Oblivion isn't on Gog since it isn't Steam dependent in any way...maybe they'll sneak it in during this sale?
Huh, 10 years old. I just started another play through a couple days ago. Went straight to the thieves guild, after I'm finished with that I'm off to the Dark Brotherhood :P

Oblivion is probably my favorite out of the series. I love the other ones, but I think it is because it was the first Elder Scrolls game I played. I borrowed (you know, when you still could do that :P ) a double pack game DVD from a friend that had Bioshock 1 and Oblivion on it.
If Oblivion was an actual person, I'd throw its cake on the ground.
Would love to add a gog copy, love the TES games.
one of my favorite games
10 years old nao they grow up so fast

i might have to reinstall it with 20 gig worth of mods

it wil be glorious !!

and i sank thousands of hours in that game
My favorite game ever <3
Had so much fun with it when it came out. So long ago haha.
I have actually just recently "finished" my very first playthrough of it, by which I mean I explored most of the game world and finished all quest lines I wanted my character to finish. Of course I used a great number of mods and I really enjoyed it a lot. I doubt I would play it without mods, though, there are too many things that would bother me, like the awkward enemy and item leveling.
It's gonna hurt me saying it, but dammit, Oblivion had better side quests than bloody Skyrim.

oblivion superior
skyrim inferior
That means I'm 10 years older than when I saw Oblivion for first time.
Sigh

Understandable, it would be a level scaled 10 year old cake

TES series get worse with each entry.
