It's a free Windows game based on the original Rogue and it's a lot of fun! This version allows movement with the keypad and has a built-in manual for all of the keyboard commands.

You can find info on pretty much every roguelike on roguebasin.com and there are some Classic Rogue 2.5 videos on YouTube you could check out. These guys (oryx design) also have a Brogue tileset which looks good.

Not yet, but I certainly will. I love Rogue (and roguelikes), though I'm not sure how one can streamline that game any further, considering how simple it already is.

I think the melee fighting is a lot less clunky than the original Rogue. One only has to press the Tab key to fight. Plus using the keypad helps with movement, and I don't think that was available in Rogue either.
