It's not bad at all.
I had no idea it even exists. And I tend to follow what's coming in terms of movies in tv shows probably way more than an average person (especially when it comes to fantasy, sci-fi and the like). I don't think they took great pains to advertise it.

The trailer looks... ok-ish? Maybe I don't remember the game perfectly, but it doesn't quite feel like the same characters. And I'm not exactly crazy about this animation style. But hey, the Bad Batch just wrapped up and it's still a while untill new seasons of Amphibia and Animaniacs, so I might give it a shot...
Not feeling the trailer at all but I also had no idea about this so thank you for bringing it up.

Don't like the animation style and the humor doesn't seem to hit the subtle but clever approach from the games. How many episodes is this?

No kidding. The movies weren't perfect but are pretty damn good in respecting the source material (especially compared to fantasy adaptions before it). I'm seeing lots of commentary now about how Tolkien was "actually" saying this or that with LOtR. Given that he famously ripped his publishers over "elvish" vs "elfish" I suspect he wouldn't be into drastic reinterpretations of the world he constructed and breathed life into.

To all of those there is only one response, and that's this quote from Tolkien himself:

I cordially dislike allegory in all its manifestations, and always have done so since I grew old and wary enough to detect its presence. I much prefer history – true or feigned– with its varied applicability to the thought and experience of readers. I think that many confuse applicability with allegory, but the one resides in the freedom of the reader, and the other in the purposed domination of the author.

He certainly would not. In fact, let's start with how no one who isn't a respected acedemic working in the field of English language and literature and doesn't have extensive, in-depth knowledge of European literature and mythology is not qualified to work with Tolkien's legendarium. And I'm sadly quite sure there aren't many Oxford lecturers on the Amazon show's writing staff.
