Hi all

These days I bought a couple of games from gog... or better, I bought one game that I found out to be bugged in a way that makes it unplayable in the last stage, to then get refunded and buy ANOTHER game that I found out to be bugged in a way that just stops working entirely before the final boss (FYI, the two games are "Anger Force: Reloaded", and "Hellmut the Badass from Hell")

Now I'm kinda fearful that my next purchase is also going to turn out to be a buggy mess, and I tried to dig some into discussions on other platforms as well to see if any of these I'm planning to get is "broken", but haven't found anything, so If anybody of you have tried any of these already, can you let me know if they are functional or broken ?

Thank you for the help
Which operating system do you use? And what are your PC's specifications?

Those games - if I understand it right, were perfectly playable until some point in the game? Then your quarrel would be with the game's dev and in all probability you would have encountered the same problem if you bought the game elsewhere (unless their versions are outdated here, which still would be the fault of the devs, not GOG.com - they can only deliver, what they get from the devs).
This really isn't the norm here, and I'm sorry that you got unlucky. I'd suggest you contact support and maybe they can help you. Just bring a little patience, they're a bit undermanned and at the same time really try to find a solution (which may take some time) from my experience.
So this is the official thread for this topic? Then ask for this one to be closed:

Never meant to say it was gog fault, but yeah, those games were fine until a certain point in the game.

I'll wait a week before to contact support again in case I don't get a response from the devs of Hellmut.
Still, getting two "broken" games in a row makes me worried the next game I'll pick will also be somehow like that, hence why I'm now asking, so I can be sure I don't have to contact support yet again ^^;

You could send a PM to a "blue" (GOG employee/forum moderator).
I have never even heard of these games:

- My Friend Pedro
- Blazing Chrome
so I am unable to assist you.

Have you checked the specific game forum for each of them? (That will take a lot less time than waiting a week …)

I posted that suggestion in the duplicate of this thread.
Yeah sounds more like the games themselves, or a weird compatibility issue with your specific machine. Only game I ever got on GOG that had trouble running on my modern PC was Zork Grand Inquisitor, and I believe they fixed it later.

I don't think is a compatibility issue, at least not with the first game since support said "they are aware of the issue and are waiting for an answer from the developer" so...
As for the second one, I'll wait a bit for a response from the devs before to call support.

Another couple of games on gog which gave me trouble were "Gekido: Kintaro's revenge", which was corrupting the savefile everytime (then it got fixed but I'm not gonna buy that game again anyway), and "Wizard of legend", which had trouble starting up because of some cloud related bug (aka was designed for DRM, and the game wasn't propely redesigned for use without DRM).
Also keep in mind that not all games here support Win10 so keep that in mind and check the store page before you buy. Also avoid Gorky 17 since that is also pretty broken.

Hello there. :)

It sucks to hear you can't finish your games(I have had this happen with scratched console games near the end of the game or at random spots).

Some questions-advice:

Did you check the game's subforums here on gog to see if someone else had your issue and found a fix? Did you make sure your OS was in the list of officially supported OSs for each game before buying?

Also: What exactly are the issues you are facing(error messages, if any/what happens when it stops working/etc) for each game if I may ask/you may recall? Listing such would help us help you even more if some of us know more about your problems with your games.

I did check the subforums but only the steam version of Hellmut mentions my issue and is not clear if it has ever been fixed or not, but it is something that "pops up at random" so I don't know what causes it.

As for the issues themselves, in Anger Force when you get to the last stage "weird text" starts popping around the sprites and HUD, which I also shown to a friend who is into programming, and he said are "debug commands"... Why does the game do that I don't know, but gog mentioned to know the issue and have contacted the devs while giving me a refund.

As for Hellmut, Once i get to the final stage the game simply doesen't work anymore, as my character cannot move, cannot shoot, no key seem to work at all except Shift which instead of letting me choose the "mutation" switches to a different weapon and only for once, the HUD disappears, and yet I still see sprites playing the respective animations and the music still plays.
I currently left a message in the subforum on the matter but I don't know If I'll ever get a reply at this point since the game is a couple years old too, still, I'll wait a week before asking yet another refund.

All that seems like it must s*ck terribly. You have my condolences and I hope you can find something that works here that you will enjoy in the future. :)
