neumi5694: Dunno, if you lose interest in the content (the short discussion was about game magazines that for a certain time female models on their cover to increase sales) because of that man where you would be interested otherwise, then I think it doesn't describe it properly.

Breja: Congratulations, that is a masterclass in completely misrepresenting what I just said.
Well thank you, but I'm afraid I have to return that trophy. I was refering to the better term I was asking for, nothing else.

TheGrimLord: It's not my fault you have uncanny valley issues. We don't all suffer from that issue. Apparently people on the ASD are unaffected by it and given the popularity of these games worldwide, I suppose a lot of people have ASD on this planet. Interesting.

HappyPunkPotato: I'm on the spectrum and the uncanny valley thing definitely affects me!
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6211702/

"Children with ASD have limited visual experiences of human faces due to their diminished social motivation [15], and they are less sensitive to featural and configural modifications of faces, such as the changes of eye sizes, the changes of distance between the eyes [27, 28]. Considering the important role of eye contact and mind perception in the uncanny valley, Schein and Gray [29] suggested that individuals with autism should be less likely to show the uncanny valley effect as they viewed the eyes less, though they have not provided experimental evidences. As the uncanny valley is critically dependent on the perceptual experience with real human faces [25] and the ability to detect the perceptual mismatch of the human-like artifacts [30], we also hypothesize that the uncanny valley effect is diminished or even absent among children with ASD."

"We found that TD children showed a pattern of the uncanny valley: with the realism increasing, TD children’s preference for face images first declined to a valley, then increased. This pattern was confirmed by our modified Bradley-Terry model: TD children’s probability of choosing an image first decreased and then increased with the realism of images increasing on the continuum. Moreover, TD children’s preference for the cartoon images and the human images declined with the enlargement of the eye size. However, the uncanny valley effect was absent in children with ASD: their preference remained largely the same as the realism increased, which was validated by the steady probability of choosing an image estimated by the modified Bradley-Terry model. In addition, the ASD group showed similar preferences for the images with different eye sizes, they also showed similar preferences for the cartoon images and the human images."

The exception doesn't justify the rule in this sense.

Sorry, I'm going to justify these games. Especially when GOG has the highest rated 3D Rendered Visual Novel on VNDB. That crew is very picky. They mostly love their anime stuff. But Being A DIK managed to score almost a 8/10 there. It's just that good of a story.

That was interesting, thanks. Wish I could find one where they looked at adults with ASD and/or had more than one female participant though.

Sorry if this is too personal a question but doesn't the depression and suicide in the game kind of kill the mood for the sexy bits?

Unrelated perhaps to your question, but I think that as long as Guro exists, I believe it's safe to say some people are not put off by many things, rather even the most uncommon things can become a fetish. Though in some cases I'm not sure if that's an entirely wise thing to do to yourself... but to each his own.

No, because they're about the full spectrum of the relationship. You actually can date the girl with depression and I think you have to help her manage it. Again, sex is only part of these games. I consider them kind of soap opera dramas, but for men. I'm sure a woman's perspective will be introduced eventually, but right now it's a mostly male dominated industry. There's one called Once In A Lifetime which is about surviving a cult. It's the second best rated game.

Yeah, this also.

WinterSnowfall: Guro
Had to look that up but it sounds interesting:

"Guro is a Japanese artistic genre that focuses on the unsettling, eerie and bizarre. It discomforts the readers and viewers due to the abnormal art style, which involves curved patterns, distorted human anatomy, dismembered human parts, and disgusting images. Guro also explores social taboos like violence and sexuality."

Thanks for the explanation. I'm glad you (and others) have got the chance to get these games here!

Actually meant Ero guro in this context, but close enough.

Well, currently only Being A DIK is here. Once In A Lifetime and Leap Of Faith are only on itch or their Patreon.
The best games have no depictions or suggestions of sexual acts, and no promotion of sexual identity.
It's completely unnecessary for a quality game.

This is bait. Grand Theft Auto and The Witcher 3 say hi, as well as Mass Effect and numerous other titles.
Because sex sells product.

Isn't it great to live in a world where nothing is sacred, nothing is special? Where porn is how children learn about sexuality?
I'm sorry that was your experience. But not everything is supposed to be educational. Furthermore, sex is many things, but it is not sacred or special. Quit putting it on a pedestal. People fuck. They do now more than ever. So much so in fact that a new STD was created because of it. A rather nasty one. Don't blame porn for hookup culture. Most people watching it do so in order to avoid hookup culture. Better to get the poison out that way instead of with some person you don't really know.

Materialism is great for reducing everything to a crude commodity that can be bought, sold or traded: everything except love and happiness. But who needs that when you've got porn, right? We're not human beings, we're meat puppets!
Making a fuss about these adult games in this forum is just silly. Everyone here is old enough to deal with adult contents.

An ignore function for this forum is more important than a hide porn button.

I'm not sure what you mean by bait, perhaps you can explain that.
My point is valid. Everyone can name games that were highly successful that they like and don't have any sex or sexuality.
Are you saying Witcher 3 would be significantly less popular if it didn't have any sex or sexuality?
I don't think so.
If you removed the violence it would suffer.
